SunnyHello Nice effects though.
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Brennan Camacho Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
Leofwine_draca RECLAIM is another cheap straight-to-DVD thriller starring John Cusack. He plays a mysterious character who hooks up with a married couple visiting a foreign country. They've recently adopted a Haitian orphan girl, but a murky conspiracy soon rises to the fore. The small cast is probably the best thing about this undemanding effort. Ryan Philippe and Rachel Lefevre commit themselves ably enough as the protagonists and Cusack is always fun; old-timer Luis Guzman even shows up in support. Sadly, the plotting is very limited and after a bit of early mystery it gives way entirely in the second half, turning into a drawn-out chase thriller littered with dodgy effects and some really distracting continuity errors (watch the placement of the cardigan in the final scene). The only interesting part is the setting; like many new cheap films, it was shot in a glorious Puerto Rico.
Roy Curiosa The most stupid movie I've ever watched. I beg you not to watch this. It'll just stress you how poorly this movie was made. Lot of things can be done to escape. The script is just too stupid. Very STUPID MOVIE. I've seen a lot of human trafficking movie but so far this is the worst. I don't know how is this a powerhouse movie. Nothing makes sense.
Tyypo Reviewers who criticize the intelligence and common sense of our main characters are spot on. From the very beginning, there is a bad vibe from the woman who is arranging the adoption. The couple ignores that. Then John Cusack's character gives an on off the charts creepy disingenuousness that screams something is wrong from his very first appearance. He keeps showing up everywhere, and yet they still don't suspect anything. The middle of the movie keeps the viewer on edge, just waiting for worse things to happen and they do. Then a series of very cliché events happen. I'm always tempted to highlight them all, but I know others have already done that dirty work for me. The biggest theme is that our protagonists choose not to fully incapacitate their captors, and it comes back to bite them repeatedly. I was also disappointed in the ambiguity of the ending. Still, it wasn't a complete waste of time. It was nice but also disconcerting to see John Cusack as a villain, and he generally pulls it off.
Nick Mageloff *** Spoiler Alert *** This is my first ever review - I am writing this to save you from WASTING 90 minutes of your life as my wife and I did! What a complete piece of trash and HUGE insult to my integrity as a human being!! If you want to be an armchair director and yell at your TV - this is your movie!! Absurd scenes of violence and car chases that even a high schooler would have negotiated better!! The problem is in the last 15 minutes or so of the movie. Everything is really good up to that point. You know things are up but do not know exactly what, great entertainment. But then as the plot begins to unfold, it turns to total crap and bunch of ridiculous plot turns and a retaliation from Phillippe that is so absurd at every turn that you really feel the insult to your integrity like no movie I have ever seen. Cusack and Phillippe - I will be much more careful before I EVER watch one of your movies again, why did you even bother???
