Develiker terrible... so disappointed.
Kamila Bell This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Kinley This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Celia A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
wolfens29 I watch a movie is to enjoy what i see..period..i seldom incorporate too much reality into details unless it is obvious... like i live in the Philippines and our situation may not be the same as people living in Los Angeles.. so i enjoy this movie for what i see as possible.. not considering what people in L.A. may have experience an entirely different thing (actuality)Just one curiosity .. when Kim Bassinger cut the armpit of the man and told him he will die instantly and feel numb all over his body.. is this true?/ anyway i love the movie and enjoy the trip through and through.. Chris Evans was a newbie in this film and he did well for a whatever training he had ...not to mention his good looks is a plus factor as the cameraman is like 90% on his face .. capturing all his emotions.. he did pretty fantastic in this aspect..Kim is all jittery and shaky in her voice.. and i love her acting and her eyes are seemingly teary all the time as emotions filled mother would have been...I felt bad if we see entertaining the it is entertaining for all its worth.. love to say this.. IT'S JUST A MOVIE...sit back and relax..
Manal Az I watched"Cellular" recently in 2015,and I was very satisfied. This film revolves around Jessica(Kim Basinger) she was kidnapped, and she dials a random number which is Ryan's number (Chris Evans) who being coward person , he avoids helping people too .Howeve Ryan will launch in an incredible race against time to save Jessica, as well as he has no idea about what await him.The film was very amusing, exciting and entertaining. Besides i was well written, well acted and well directed. We as Moroccan people we can watch it with our parents, that's means that this movie does no include scenes which are inappropriate, so "Cellular" can be watched by all age categories.Personally I think that this film transmit an important message to boys, especially to careless boys. All in all, I really enjoyed watching this captivating film
popcorninhell There are no underlying profound messages to be had in Cellular. There are no atmospheric flairs or hidden political themes either. It's just a simple, straightforward story with decent actors, decent art direction and function-only directing. Cellular is essentially the grandson of action flicks like Speed (1994) or The Fugitive (1993). Chris Evans plays an average California slacker who receives a cellphone call from an older woman (Kim Basinger). She frantically tells him she's being held captive for some unknown reason and her kidnappers are after her husband and child. With that Evans has to decide whether he believes her and whether he can do anything about it.I need not tell you that the physically capable Chris Evans ends up being the savior of this entrenched family and he becomes their future-Captain-America by fumbling his way through a labyrinth of physical and psychological feats. It's fun to watch and what's utilized well in this film versus his other flagship projects is his ability to do comedy. When Cellular came out the only other place I recognized Evans was in Not Another Teen Movie (2001). A movie which despite some serious faults showed that the actor had a capability to make us chuckle. Here, under David R. Ellis's nuts and bolts direction, we have a proper mix of Captain America and teen heartthrob Jake Wyler. Did I also meantion William H. Macy and Jason Statham are also in this movie?
jimbo-53-186511 Cellular is one of those films that is incredibly entertaining and fun to watch, but it's also sloppy in too many areas for it to be really categorized as a great film. Let's look at some examples; Jessica Martin (Kim Basinger) is kidnapped and manages to make an outbound phone call from a damaged telephone by literally crossing wires together. I'm not an expert on these things so maybe it's possible that this can be done, but did anyone else find it hard to believe that Basinger's character would have the skill or know-how to be able to do this? I mean yes if she was a telecoms engineer or if she was in a profession that would give her the requisite skills to do this it might make this aspect of the plot believable, but she's a teacher so it makes no sense that she would have the skill or know-how to do this??? To me this aspect of the story was just thrown in with complete disregard for logic. Also the kidnappers carry out a fairly well-executed kidnapping of Jessica, but then fail to restrain her which lead to her being able to escape????I also struggled understanding why her husband just left the recording of the police corruption in a safety deposit box? Yes I realise he wouldn't be able to take it to the police, but why not take it higher? Refer it to the FBI for example. It just didn't make any sense to me. It seemed to be a case of characters making stupid decisions in order to make the story more exciting. If we look at the acting then Evans is very much the 'glue' that holds this entertaining mess together. His performance here was excellent and despite the fact that he's a bit smug and arrogant at the start the fact that he goes the 'extra mile' to help Jessica means that he is at least a character that we can root for. His character does get into some very funny scenarios as well (the scene where he steals the lawyer's car twice was a stroke of genius). Basinger is quite good and Statham is his usual self - which to me isn't a bad thing.I quite enjoyed this film, but some of the far-fetched plot elements and the numerous improbable scenarios do hold it back slightly. Despite some of its shortcomings I did find it entertaining and fun to watch. It's a film that you'll find that you'll hate the more you think about it so it's best just to switch off your brain and enjoy the ride.
