Very disappointed :(

Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

This is the most stunning Tamil gangster movie ever to be made. My expectations were beyond fulfilled when I watched this film. The opening credits creates a great impact on how the film would be, depicting the Don's history. The picturization was brilliant, and so was the camera angles. The story was hardcore and good yet simple, although it lacked twists and drama. Ajith's acting was brilliant as usual, and the rest of the crew did well, too. Director Chakri has done a superb job in the way he had directed the fighting scenes, and not to mention the classy screenplay. It was bloody, stylish and synchronized. The music composed by Yuvan was great as well. The "Gangster" song, being so popular, was placed during the end credits of the film, decreasing the film's commercial value. Many scenes were taken from well known gangster movies like "Scarface", "The Godfather" and the video game "Mafia". Overall review: Story: 7/10Screenplay: 8/10Direction: 9/10Music: 7/10Performances: 9/10Cinematography: 10/10 Movie: 8.6/10

July 13th and the day had come.. The whole of Tamil Nadu were waiting for bated breath for this day, where their handsome style icon would arrive to the relish of his humongous fan base..Releasing in almost 2500 screens worldwide, this mid-year special made fans go crazy in expectation.. Heavy marketing from the team making use of social networks as a piercing bullet did wonders for the movie.. Simultaneously landing as David Billa in Telugu, Ajith's Billa 2 was the most awaited movie of the year yet!Billa 2 traces the roots of David Billa, an Eelam refugee from Sri Lanka and his journey on becoming a dreaded don..Billa 2 boasts of a big starcast starting off with the mighty Ajith and moving on to numbers of characters who grace the screen in one scene and trace it in the next..Billa 2 kicks off with a well-choreographed knife fight sequence.. The opening titles are impressive too with the childhood story of Billa told through pictures.. The highly engaging first half which shows the rise of Billa is a treat to watch as it is packed with a clean screenplay and strong dialogues.. Stunts too, are neatly done even though they might be bobbed down a bit on the logical front.. At the interval block, you will be left bedazzled and ask for more..Billa 2 begins to falter in the second half where it just wanders without any definite initiative.. The movie begins to slow down and relies hugely on its stunts thereafter.. The climax stunt sequence is packaged with grandeur and risky stunts but doesn't manage to pack a punch..Billa 2 is Ajith all the way.. With terrific screen presence and charisma, he delivers an impressive performance much to the delight of his fans.. The villains Sudhanshu Pandey and Vidyut Jammwal are majestic and fit the junction as perfect antagonists.. The leading ladies, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah have less screen space and don't live up to the expectations created.. Parvathy is trash in her acts while Bruna Abdullah is pure eye candy and looks ravishing on screen..The supporting cast consisting of Krishna Kumar, Manoj K Jayan, Ilavarasu and Sriman have small roles intercepted into the script.. Ilavarasu is undoubtedly missed in the second half..Billa 2 is a technically brilliant film.. Cinematography by R.D.Rajashekhar is top notch and the Red Epic works wonders in his favour.. The fight sequences are done in a stylish manner and seemingly justify the A certificate.. However, the scene where Ajith takes over the whole force with just a bare W1300 is one which will test your patience..Dialogues by Era Murugan are razor sharp and are one of the big plus points of the movie.. Editing by Suresh Urs is fine as the whole movie is cropped into just 2 hours and 7 minutes.. Musically, Billa 2 is brought down with average songs.. The BGM is apt at places and loud at the others.. Yuvan seems to have overused the Billa theme throughout the movie, as it is heard in a lot of scenes..Thanks to its big budget and lavish making, Billa 2 stands to give you the feel of a Hollywood movie.. However, the absence of a strong script and a taut screenplay bring the film down.. A little bit care taken over the written part of the movie would have ended in a world class product.. With the absence of big competitors except for the buzzing Naan Ee, Billa 2 would space out as a treat for action movie lovers..Verdict : Style Yes. Substance No. Watch it for the grandeur!

Before going for the review, just want to make a point to people who post in FB and review the film negatively. One of the post carried "Killing Killing Killing.. Billa 2 " Shut up.. A don movie ll be and has to be all about killing, cos a don cannot become a don without ( at least ) killing dozens of enemies , even in real life and reel life. A local rowdy himself kills about ten to twenty people to get control of a small area, u accept it in films, but when a don kills a few hundred to be the don of a particular part of the world , u wont accept that.. It doesn't make sense. First don't think u r such a big head with beautiful critic sense. A don movie is all about killing the people who opposes or come across him. He is not Jesus Christ or Mother Terasa to forgive his enemies. Billa 2 is not an awesome movie nor a below average movie. Its an average movie where the Hero Ajith has carried the movie on his shoulders. credit goes to him and the co actors. But the negative side is the Director's commitment in the film. he lacked maturity and experience as he didn't carry the film in a correct phase. I know its easy to critic and to wok on the sets as a director. But he lost it in basics. Even though its about a don, the villain shown is also powerful, until he meets Ajith. The helicopter scene where both fights it out with the fist is annoying. Don's facing the fists is not acceptable. But except some blurs , the movie is worth watching and is a standard movie equal to the quality of a Hollywood movie. The building up of the story is so good. good treat for Ajith fans , Average for a neutral fan.

Billa 2 an Action Packed Entertainer!! The Story seem to be plain, simple and predictable, but what stands out is the packaging..Very Stylish and neat. Ajith Kumar's Charismatic screen presence with his action sequence are breathtaking. The movie doesn't have the usual mass masala kinda comedy..dance and punch dialogues..The Dialogues are few but very strong and powerful. ERA Murugan has done an extraordinary job penning them. Yuvan's Magic in Re Recording has touched a new high in this movie..ably supported by RD Rajsekhar's cinematography..Shot in Red One Epic is very Evident.Since the dialogues are far in between, movie seem to be slow.. especially in the first half..Two heroines are mere glamour dolls..Both sudhanshu pandey and viduyut jamwal have done their part well..For Ajith's fan Billa 2 would be a celebration! Well for others..You might get your Money's worth..Go Enjoy It!!
