Tedfoldol everything you have heard about this movie is true.
Supelice Dreadfully Boring
Catangro After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
Bessie Smyth Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
Python Hyena Trapped (2002): Dir: Luis Mandoki / Cast: Charlize Theron, Kevin Bacon, Courtney Love, Stuart Townsend, Pruitt Taylor Vince: Although a husband and wife are victimized due to their kidnapped daughter the real ones trapped are the villains who put too much faith into their recycled scheme. Stuart Townsend is a successful doctor with his trophy wife Charlize Theron. Kevin Bacon and Courtney Love play the villains. They must interact every thirty minutes or their daughter dies, which allows Bacon to remain calm when Theron brandishes a gun. Worthy setup marred by repetitious formula but the climax is exciting. Directed by Luis Mandoki as a much different and certainly better achievement than he had with Message in the Bottle, which is one of the worst films of 1999. The film is fueled with fine performances by Theron and Townsend as the worried parents who pool their resources and reach the expected outcome. Bacon, and Love are terrific as the icy villains who go through the formula but are brought down in the big climax. Pruitt Taylor Vince plays their accomplice who is viewed more as a mindless thug but he desires to harm nobody. It could have addressed control but it teases with possible innuendo between Theron and Bacon. Luckily the screenplay is enjoyable despite flaws and it doesn't become trapped from passable entertainment. Score: 7 / 10
SnoopyStyle Hickey (Kevin Bacon) is the brains behind a team that already completed 4 successful kidnappings. The latest victim is Abby Jennings (Dakota Fanning). Marvin (Pruitt Taylor Vince) takes the little girl to an isolated location. Hickey calling himself Joel tells Karen (Charlize Theron) that he wants 250k in 24 hours. She tells him that Abby is severely asthmatic. The husband Will (Stuart Townsend) is away at a conference and Cheryl (Courtney Love) tells him the plan for him to hand over the money. The setup is pretty simple but it does have its problems. It's up to the actors to sell this premise. Kevin Bacon is a solid villain and Charlize Theron is a great momma bear as his foil. They work well together. Townsend and Love are not quite so good. They are second rate both in scale and in quality. All together, it's a simple thriller that mostly works with a couple of good performances.
Michael O'Keefe Tense thriller. Hickey(Kevin Bacon) and his wife Cheryl(Courtney Love)press their luck with what they thought was a perfect crime. A crime they have successfully achieved four times, before meeting their match. A young girl named Abby(Dakota Fanning)is kidnapped and held for ransom. Her parents Dr. Will Jennings(Stuart Townsend)and his wife Karen(Charlize Theron)are given 24 hours to come up with the money asked for and all will be well. Hickey is cool, calm and collected knowing he has perfected his crime; but trouble will mess up his well organized plans. Abby has asthma and needs her medicine. Plus Will and Karen are not as cooperative as the previous couples with thoughts of a child being killed. This time the tormented parents each put up clever fights in order to get their daughter back. Bacon is so convincing in this type of role. He manages to change from charming to terrorizing in a snap. Theron at her worse is a nice eyeful. But maybe just the best acting comes from 8-year-old Fanning. Kidnapping is a horrifying ordeal and TRAPPED is proof. Rounding out the cast: Pruitt Taylor Vince, Jodie Markell, Gary Chalk and Colleen Camp.
Saturnfly Because I surely did not. For starters, the family, you have an Irish man with fairly dark hair, a blonde magazine model? woman, with an intellectual young blonde daughter. That at first to me seemed unrealistic, but later on the film it was just ridiculous. I craved more information on these characters, because they seemed interesting enough, but all I was given was a bunch of strangers thrown into a pot of boiling nonsense. Don't get me wrong though, these actors are terrific with the right role, this was just supposed to be a T.V movie with actors and actresses we had never heard of. It was a lazy, terror-less film about something that people make movies about, it seems every day. They could have had a twist or two, maybe even a little bit of suspense, but no. It was boring, I was watching this film thinking to myself what I would have done if I was in that situation. Overall, the only part I actually enjoyed was when the woman got let out of the boot of the car and just ran away, I had to giggle at that.
