Plustown A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

Murphy Howard I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

quimbys I found this movie entertaining. After Se7en I have kind of expected smarter yet gruesome murder mysteries from Hollywood. I suppose this would be one.When I first began to watch Resurrection (1999) I thought it might been the movie that got ripped off and made into Se7en (1995), but then I checked and found that it had been made after Se7en. All I could wonder was who would want to do a cheap rip off of Se7en and hope it would make money? Perhaps they were trying to ride the back of Se7en's success.The similarities to Se7en are almost too strange. We have an intelligent loner detective, Prudhomme (Christopher Lambert), who unlike Morgan Freeman's Sommerset is married. However who cares? She disappears in the first third of the movie. Not to be seen again until the middle of the movie and not for long either. Prudhomme is suffering from the loneliness of a marriage marred by the loss of his only child instead, and like Sommerset, his faith in God is shaken. His younger partner, Andrew Hollingsworth (Leland Orser) is the one without anybody in his life this time. Prudhomme admires the killer's resourcefulness and intellect as he figures out early that the killer must kill si6x people to achieve his gruesome goal.The similarities do not stop there. The killer is brilliant and thinks he's carrying out God's will in some strange mission to recreate the body of Christ. He's out for notoriety and to send a message and he does manage to personalize his murders so that one of the detectives is involved deeply. When the Prudhomme and his young partner have their first face to face with the killer (in an on foot in the rain chase scene no less), the killer manages to strike major terror in a horrible confrontation with Prudhomme's partner Hollingsworth, just like the killer in Se7en with Brad Pitt's Detective Mills.Then there is the scene where a lead leads to an apartment, but it's a false lead (like the Sloth Scene in Se7en). It is very similar to the scene where, in Se7en, Sommerset and Mills think they have found the killer's apartment, but instead it's a false lead that actually is another murder victim. There is another scene that is also very similar to another part of the Sloth Scene that occurs towards the end of Resurrection as well.Another detail that was similar in both movies is when the killer in both movies, almost gets caught when they were not expecting it and so they both contact the detectives to let them know that they were pleasantly surprised that they had underestimated them and that they viewed the detectives as worthy opponents.There are tons of other little details that are similar, including the grittiness, lighting, sets, and filming style that make it reek of Se7en, only on a lower budget, which I am sure it was without Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman.Then there is the end. Se7en had a great ending and this film, well...Maybe you should see it for yourself.

convict-1 First of all I wouldn't say that this movie is a Se7en Rip-Off. I agree to the point that it's similar to Se7en. But this murderer has a different purpose with his killing than the murderer in Se7en and as in Se7en the one in Resurrection don't replicate the 7 sins. He merely wants to Resurrect Jesus Christ.The movie has a touch of low budget over it but still it manages too keep you interested and entertained. The actors ain't really Oscar material but they do what they're supposed to do and do it quite well. I like the concept about religion, it's a subject everyone have heard about and this movie is overall realistic. It's not very predictable and I don't think you'll turn it off and say "THIS IS CRAP!" I think this movie is underestimated and deserves being viewed. And the fact that it's not packed with special effects and thousands of big actors makes it a good choice. I've always preferred David over Goliat. ;)

Lost_Highway Reading reviews this seemed like an interesting premise, sadly it doesn't manage to pull it off, instead of trying for some originality it decides to throw in as many clichés as possible, right up to the final showdown between cop and killer (One day I'd like to see a killer actually end up in jail!) even stooping to someone getting tripped over during a chase by a trolley in a hospital (what the hell was someone doing pushing that trolley around anyway??? Everyone else was out cold on that floor!) The worst part of the movie is that the identity of the killer is so predictable they may as well have had a big sign slapped to his forehead reading "I AM THE KILLER". The way it was done meant that within 5 minutes of meeting him you know he is going to be the "twist" in the tale.All the other thriller clichés are present, cop who has had some tragedy in his life and carries a lot of emotional baggage, chief of police announcing "you are off this case, I'm putting xxx and xxx on the job", main characters partner being the one who is injured, thus causing more emotional grief for the lead.It's plus points are some reasonable uses of supporting characters, there are other cops involved in the case who actually seem to have some clue as to how to be policemen (but of course it's always down to out lead to figure every clue out).So all in all and interesting idea that just turned out to be another run of the mill Hollywood style thriller. I wonder if someone somewhere has a book called "Thriller Scriptwriting 101" that hasn't been updated in the last 30 years.

courtney woods this movie is by far one of my favorite movies. To me in my opinion it gives a very gripping performance, and it is very interesting. The movie has even gotten me wanting to become either a forensic photographer, or a detective because it seems like a lot of fun. I have heard many people say it is a very stupid movie with no meaning at all, well whoever said that either hasn't set through it all the way or else just don't like the same stuff i do, but i did find this movie very enjoyable although all the dead bodies wouldn't be suitable for children. The fact that it is base on a religious type of murder/crime is very interesting to me. Oh, and i though that Christopher Lambert gave an extremely wonderful performance. So if i could judge this movie i would say a 9 out of 10.
