In her many years as a social worker, Emily Jenkins believes she has seen it all, until she meets 10-year-old Lilith and the girl's cruel parents. Emily's worst fears are confirmed when the parents try to harm the child, and so Emily assumes custody of Lilith while she looks for a foster family. However, Emily soon finds that dark forces surround the seemingly innocent girl, and the more she tries to protect Lilith, the more horrors she encounters.

Reviews
Laikals The greatest movie ever made..!
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Sabah Hensley This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
ops-52535 Well, this is definately a horror story, a bit unusually ploted, its also a drama and a thriller. i did like the horrish angle come through ms zellweger, and the feeling youll never get rid of that black shadow in your life. ive never heard of case 39,and it was a pleasure to watch. dont elevate your expectations , just delve into it
gherghelandrada I've come across this movie a few times but never actually had enough interest to watch it. This time, however, having a lot of time on my hands I decided to give it a try. I have to say, I love Renee Zellweger, and she did not disappoint me in this one either. She is the reason why I decided to watch it, in the first place. But the little girl... damn, kids can be creepy. I've always considered horrors with evil kids creepier than the rest. Maybe it's because you are expecting them to be innocent and kind.. don't know. Jodelle Ferland did a terrific job. She kept me focused and tensed throughout the whole movie. Also, the few short scene where the 'demon' is exposed gave me the chills. It was that mixture of sweet and evil that made my skin crawl. If you like these movies, give this one a try. You won't get bored. I promise.
MrMovie First ignore the haters who hate on the movie due to the fact it ain't your usual horror There's no gore it's not a slasher it's a thriller that simple not a horror Now as for the movie I am not a Renee Zellweger fan Hell I most likely spelt her name wrong In fact her movies bore me to tears but this was brilliant It was suspenseful thriller that delivered the acting was brilliant The young girl was terrifying you must watch it As for the morons on here saying its predictable what are you smoking It's anything but predictable the movie tells you the girl isn't a helpless little sweetheart It says in the movie description there's more to this girl then meets the eye It just goes to prove the ignorance of some people You know from the start that there's something different about this girl It tells you that in the bloody movies description As for the movie A social worker fights to save a girl from abusive parents only to discover Soon after taking her in that this girl isn't what she thinks It's a brilliant movie ignore the ignorant comments watch this movie
Danii Disaster I can't look past the fact that Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) was cast for a serious role. Would the movie be better is someone else played the lead? Maybe a little, but I doubt it very much. It's just not that good a movie to begin with.In any case, Zellweger was a poor choice. She should stick to romcoms, I think. I can't take her seriously in a role like this. To add insult to injury, the little girl was godawful, too. While Zellweger looked constipated throughout the movie, the little girl was just awkward and kind of embarrassing to watch - she was not one bit scary. Her performance could best be described as "trying too hard, but failing miserably". With lots of child actors around, it beats me why they'd pick this talent-less brat. Basically, the acting by both leads was less than convincing to put it mildly. The movie itself is a (very poor) rehash of all the other Satan-child / evil kid movies I have seen. Not really a thriller, let alone horror. I don't know what genre it falls under, but it's just neither suspenseful, nor griping, and not one bit scary or disturbing. If they wanted to make something memorable out of this movie, they should have let alone the horror theme and, perhaps, explored the girls life as though she wasn't aware that she's evil or that she didn't want to do what her nature dictated and was fighting the evil within. Now that would of made for a much better story, I think. But this banal, done-do-death, clichéd mess? What was the point? If you want far superior movies with a similar theme, try the original "Omen" (not the remake with Julia Styles), or "Orphan".
