ivo-cobra8 *SPOILERS* Assassination Games (2011) is not a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie I remember, watch a Lionheart (1990) instead with Van Damme that is the real movie. This movie however Is not a JCVD movie! I love the "classic" Van Damme action movies that I grew up. Direct to video movies he made that I like are The Order, Replicant, In Hell, Wake of Death, 6 Bullets, Pound of Flash and Until Death. This movie however sucks ass! This one is horrible. Boring, almost pathetic. It seems that action stars who aren't successful anymore, like Van Damme or Wesley Snipes, are making movies in Romania, mostly cheap action movies which apparently want to cash in on the old reputation of these action stars. Pathetic. Again: This movie is no fun at all, save your money.I'll never understand the praise for this film. I'm sure someone will try to explain it to me...please feel free. Cinematography that has a Poor-Yellow Color on everything, Van Damme in 'Zombie Mode', an ending that is just 'a Remote-Controlled Gun in a Lame Way', lack of excitement/thrills/action, zero chemistry between its' leads, and a boring as hell storyline. The dialogue is horrible, not watchable, the color is yellow. Jean-Claude Van Damme and Scott Adkins gave the worst performances of their life's! The action is terrible, the martial arts are not in this movie at all. All the time I kept seeing yellow color, thank god I did not pre order this movie on Blu-ray cause it so suck.I don't get why anyone likes this movie? Why is 6,2 on IMDb? I don't get it. This movie is a poor movie not a Van Damme I remember. I don't care for this crappy movie. It is boring and doesn't deserve the high rating on IMDb. I will never watch it again! What a waste of 2 great on screen martial artists! Scott Adkins also was the king in The Legend of Hercules and he sucked in that too. His acting is rough around the edges and it does bother me.This movie is just terrible, awful and I don't get it. I would rather watch The Killer (1989) with Chow Yun Fat and director John Woo than this poor lame Ernie Barbarash crappy movie. No martial arts in here, no epic fights really nothing! Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (2012) at least had an epic fights between Van Damme and Adkins, this movie has nothing, pat poor lines from two stars. This movie get's an 1 from me :P.Assassination Games is a 2011 American action film directed by Ernie Barbarash, and starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Scott Adkins. kosmasp Pairing Scott Adkins and van Damme seems to bring the best out of those two actors (other examples being Expandables 2 and of course the most recent Universal Soldier). Of course in those movies and in this the pairing has a different agenda and a different relationship to each other, so I won't go into what makes them tick in this movie, so it won't be spoiled. What I can say, is that the action in this movie is more than decent, which can also be said about the acting. It's not your run of the mil action movie with just some random action scenes in it. There has been put a lot of thought behind this and if you're not to concerned about the next big action scene coming up, you will be able to quite enjoy it
Ben Larson Jean Claude Van Damme is a guilty pleasure. I really don't expect stellar acting, just continuous action.I am really not interested in anyone else in the film either. They are just support for Van Damme. It was filmed in Romania, so I wouldn't know anyone anyway. I do have to say that Yugoslavian Marija Karan did provide an interesting diversion from the fighting. She was an abused prostitute that Van Damme took in. Of course, emotion is not something that fits in an assassin's tool bag.Sadly, there is no honor among thieves. They will sell each other out for the right price. It makes for an interesting movie with two assassins looking for the bad guy, and the bad guy on their trail.
thelazyw Keep in mind this is a 9 out of 10 for Jean Claude movies. I have them all and this one will be added soon. This was a good movie to show Jean Claude is back and ready for some better roles. He did not try to step out farther than his acting chops allow, but highlighted what he is good at, the strong silent type. His fellow screen-mates were all interesting, even though some clichés were readily identifiable. Loved the turtle and was super relieved he did not get squashed in the midst of battles. We loved it that all of the bad guys get it in the end. Was a little disappointed in how easily the main villain was let off after everything he had done... oh well... I hope this is a sign of things to come and that we can expect Jean to be back in action soon. This looks to be the case considering the films that show in post production on his page.
