SoftInloveRox Horrible, fascist and poorly acted
Peereddi I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.
Janae Milner Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
Tobias Burrows It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
alleywayambush OK, so I bought an old VHS of this the other day (May 2018) and watched it for the 1st time in like 20-odd years. (Think I last saw this show in 1997 in Germany where it was pretty big; didn't understand a word mind !) As an adult I don't really get it; seems really mediocre, 'cool' 1990s and generally All-American.That said, maybe that's sort of the point ! Interesting to see how EVERY other review on here is of high appraisal and practically 10/10 ! Interesting all the comparisons to The Simpsons. OK, so as a kid I guess I just thought it was cool + funny (the latter in a quite superficial sort of way). Maybe I was too young to get it; maybe this is - as the comparisons to The Simpsons would suggest - a social parody of working-class USA. After all, what else would a US show featuring a lumberjack, housewife, baseball-jacketed son + sparkly-clad daughter be about !?So I'll give it 5/10 to be safe; good compromise considering my being on a stepping stone to getting its purpose !
ThreeThumbsUp I just caught the episode about the son taking "Thorniods" to gain muscle yesterday on YouTube, and I must say, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Is this show serious? For years I thought Dinosaurs was strictly a program for small children, but boy was I wrong. I mean, the producers had no trouble attacking such adult issues as drug abuse straight on. It was entertaining, bizarre, interesting and cheesy all rolled up into a delightful 22 minute package. I look forward to catching more episodes online.I also watched a behind the scenes look at how the program was made. Controlling the animatronic faces of the characters, while balancing the lines, directions and heavy suits is nothing less than astounding. Apparently the exact method was used to manipulate the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It's really very complicated stuff.
Xander Seavy (RiffRaffMcKinley) The first two seasons of The Henson Company's "Dinosaurs" are positively ingenious. But when season three came around, for some reason, the show lost its magic. Now, I bet you're wondering why this review appears so negative when I have this rated as a 10 out of 10. And normally, you'd be right-- this show could be no better than a 5 or a 6. However, I don't want to vote based solely on the quality of the individual episodes. I go by effort, potential, and just how good the show itself is, because every show has some episodes that aren't that good. So just know this. "Dinosaurs" was the jewel in the Henson Co. crown. It was the pinnacle of their technical achievements, with creatures that could do so much more than they ever could before. Add that together with a family of genuine dino-characters (despite what people say about Baby, he's the best!) and a series of plot lines that practically bleeds modern social commentary, and what you have is the most clever sitcom ever to hit the tube. It's just a shame that the latter episodes-- particularly the finale!-- got so out of touch with what the show was supposed to be about: a family of dinosaurs that represent our own foibles. However, one of the best episodes in the series is "Georgie Must Die!," one of the unaired bonus episodes from Season 4.
RSBlain I was thrilled to see "the Dinosaurs" being re-published on DVD. As an adult of 62 years I know cartoon characters are a little far fetched for an interest. I am, as an adult of 62 years, not only fond of the Dinosaurs but "just plain crazy about them". The characters and moral teaching done within all of the episodes was outstanding and human and highly entertaining. Sitting here writing, I am not speaking of a single episode but of every episode that was aired. I can't think of a better teaching tool for values or better entertainment for children or adults. There is no blood and guts, no bad language, wonderful animation, no dysfunctional family but real togetherness all done in the most heartwarming ways. I am remembering so many of the stories as I write and can't fault a single one.I purchased all of the tapes I could find and hope to add all of the upcoming releases on DVD, I wouldn't miss adding them to my collection. I just can't speak highly enough of every single episode I was ever privileged to see. My rating is a 10. RSBlain
