bowmanblue Uncertainty is about a young couple of flip a coin to decide what they're going to do with the rest of their day. We, the viewers, are then treated to two different intermingling stories (parallel universes if you like) involving the same couple and showing us what happened along each path.It's kind of like Sliding Doors, but with a bit more action in it. One story involves the couple on the run from dangerous gangsters and the other involves them going home to their family.Now, it could just be me (I prefer the 'action' genre generally), but I found the half of the film dedicated to the couple on the run from the gang to be the far more entertaining of the two, while the story about them confronting issues with their family a little dull.It could just be me. Maybe someone who prefers drama over action would prefer the other one. Either way, everyone plays their part pretty well and there are worse films to watch.

robinski34 A disappointing and direction-less affair, which is a pity because it looks great and the leads are engaging. I don't doubt that there is a complex treatise being played out here somewhere, but it is completely inaccessible to the viewer to the point where, for me, the actions of the characters became pointless and therefore frustrating. If you haven't seen it, watch 'Brick' to see Joseph Gordon Levitt give an excellent lead performance, or if you fancy some tricky time shifting malarkey, check out the excellent 'Memento' if you haven't already, watch 'Donnie Darko' again or discover the excellent 'Primer', which is a hidden gem that deserves to be seen much more widely.

Raymond I was kind of looking forward to seeing this movie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has become one of my favorite actors and for some reason I figured this would be a good movie. Smallish independent looking production, New York City, good cinematography. I guess I saw a trailer once, but can't recall anymore.I usually like movies which aren't self explanatory and don't spoon feed plots. This isn't the easiest to figure out. The plot divides in two separate stories in the beginning, and both stories are followed for the rest of the movie. I don't know if I wasn't sharp enough in the beginning, but I couldn't figure out what was the point of this all. There was a well received movie in the 90's - "Sliding Doors (1998) - which portrayed a somewhat similar idea much better. In Sliding Doors, the movie split in two by a chance, in Uncertainty I couldn't figure out the connection of the two stories. The stories seemed completely separate and had nothing in common other than having to make "tough decisions". This movie may have worked better if the stories were any good. Either of them didn't really interest me much. The other "everyday" story revolves around a pregnancy and the other is more of an "hollywood" action story around a found cell phone. I couldn't relate much to these peoples thoughts on either of the stories.That's it for the negative stuff. What I did enjoy was rather natural and good acting. The leading couple has great chemistry and even tho I didn't necessarily relate to them, they felt pretty genuine. Not much script to build characters on, but they were somewhat likable and pleasure to watch.Disappointment in the end anyway. It felt as if it was partly done before and partly didn't deliver for being anything new. It was kind of a mix of any day time soap, Lola Rennt and Sliding Doors.

etudortudor This film was not confusing at all, but very entertaining and mysterious, in other words I was never bored or bemused when watching it, and Gordon-Levitt/Collins had exceptional chemistry. The shots of Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn were stunning especially in HD and on a large screen. This film was about a young couple who, from what I observed, were at a turning point in their relationship and the events that happened to them were a kind of test. To avoid spoilers all I can tell you is that after you think the film has ended (not when it has) then you'll know what the tests were all about. If you're a young adult with no kids and in a relationship with someone you really love you will definitely be able to relate better to this film. Even if you aren't a young adult in that situation you'll enjoy it. Watch this film but don't try to over analyze it and enjoy it for what it is. Go on the adventure(s).
