Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

Laxman (Salman Khan) is a mentally challenged adult who is devoted to his younger brother, Bharat (played by Khan's real life brother Sohail). When tension breaks out on the China/India border, Bharat joins the army. Laxman is lost without him, so a friend (Om Puri) encourages him to follow Gandhi's teachings and increase his belief. Meanwhile, a mother (Zhu Zhu) and son (Martin Rey Tangu) of Chinese descent move to the village, creating dissension among the community. The young boy and Laxman become good friends. Armed with a new friend and increased faith, Laxman tries to end the war through his hope. This is a marvelous film about love, hope, and the bond between brothers. The chemistry between the Khan brothers was natural and perfect. Salman Khan played a mentally challenged man with excellence, and was simply amazing in the role. The sets and locations were gorgeous. The songs and choreography were also good. Overall, this is a fantastic film that has not gotten the recognition it deserves.

Though story is not that great but the performances are very clinical. Specially, Salman, Matin and Zeeshan are worth watching. Moreover, you will get to watch the legend Om Puri for the last time. Songs are very soothing and beauty of the nature has been captured as much as possible.

Salman Khan has always been a controversial figure in Bollywood Industry due to his interviews, actions or remarks. He carries image of a macho in his films. Whenever any Salman movie is released, it's business is compared to that of SRK's current or previous film.
Salman himself said quite a few times that he is an average actor nothing beyond than that. Though SRK's last few films weren't that good yet Salman's performance is always more scrutinized. Moreover Salman have always promoted his family members and friends through his films either by giving them second lead role or as a supporting cast or through an item song, which costs the film actually.
Indian audiences are not welcoming enough to encourage Salman's move to choose this kind of script where he didn't get to fight with 20 men and defeat them in a wink.On contrary, he got beaten up throughout complete movie. Also there are no such item songs in the movie to attract audiences. Salman didn't promoted movie much on media platforms.
Me and my friend choose to see this movie on Eid and we were surprised to see more than half vacant seats in theaters. Few people left during the interval but being a typical Indian, I choose to watch the complete movie. First of all, locations in the movie were beautiful. Salman tried to play a dimwit character but he only succeeds partially. Salman's persistence to cast Sohail Khan as his younger brother backfires. Child artist Matin Rey and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu with rest of supporting cast (Zeeshan Ayyub Khan, Yashpal Sharma, Brijendra Kala, Isha Talwar etc.) has done a decent job. This was the last movie of Late Om Puri - An acting stalwart from NSD .
There has been a sense of tension between India and China in recent years which added more woes to the movie as a Chinese actress Zhu Zhu was playing a support role in the movie.
I rated the movie 7, after seeing so many negative reviews on Imdb. We should look for the positives and appreciate when someone tries to do something new.I am not a Salman Khan fan, but I really appreciate him to choose this kind of script. I know many people compare it with "Little boy" or something else but "Tubelight" suffered mainly because of Salman Khan's image. When you were going through a rough phase, people will pounce on you.

Tubelight is one of the biggest disappointments of 2017. The positive aspect of this movie is Salman Khan, and the negative aspect too is Salman Khan. Positive because Tubelight was able to rake some moolah only because of him, and negative because he is unbearable on the screen this time. No doubt he tries hard, but its not his genre and we as audience know what he is capable of. There are only a few actors who prove us wrong and take us by surprise with their acts. Unfortunately Salman Khan is not one of them. However, Kabir Khan did take us by surprise because we expected some top kind of film from him, but he disappointed us. I do not know why was Zhu Zhu casted here and what impact did she make? Useless! The characters are poorly written just to copy the little boy plot with minor changes, but that doesn't surprise at all.
