The Thief and the Cobbler Trailers

It is written among the limitless constellations of the celestial heavens, and in the depths of the emerald seas, and upon every grain of sand in the vast deserts, that the world which we see is an outward and visible dream, of an inward and invisible reality ... Once upon a time there was a golden city. In the center of the golden city, atop the tallest minaret, were three golden balls. The ancients had prophesied that if the three golden balls were ever taken away, harmony would yield to discord, and the city would fall to destruction and death. But... the mystics had also foretold that the city might be saved by the simplest soul with the smallest and simplest of things. In the city there dwelt a lowly shoemaker, who was known as Tack the Cobbler. Also in the city... existed a Thief, who shall be... nameless.

Thehibikiew Not even bad in a good way
Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Tayloriona Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Quiet Muffin This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
connerissorad The re-cobbled cut holds a lot more magic to it, and my rating is more for that edit than this one.
OneEightNine Media I am reviewing the fan-edit of the film I was shown somewhere by someone. I'm told That version is easy to find and could be on YouTube right this second, honestly I haven't checked. Anyway, on to my review of the fan-edit, AKA Recobbled. Frankly, it was a huge mess and I was wondering why this even has a following.. until the end of it. The ending is simply awesome. Seeing the whole war-machine "battle" or sequence or whatever made the me glad I kept watching the film. I'll have see what the official DVD release looks like. And there is even a documentary about this fan-edit from what I'm told. But I have to be honest with you, the fan-edit just jam packs everything into it. It was like they threw in every scrap, drawing or whisper of the film they could find. It is basically a major non-edit. Anyway, the fan-edit of the film has its moments but it can not touch anything Disney put out in the 90s. So yeah, after I watch the DVD release I will revisit this review. For now, the fan edit gets a six out of ten. Honestly, this film had a lot of potential and that is why so many people are passionate about it.
joebrian55 While the animation itself and characters are very epic, I am quite ashamed that I heard about the film's troubled production history and where it ended up; in the hands of a Saturday morning cartoon veteran, then a distributor from New York who will stop at nothing to ruin a perfectly good masterpiece. However, I do quite enjoy both ruined versions (Miramax and Majestic Films), but I would like to see the director's cut, if it were even to see the light of day. Though there's a Recobbled Cut, I don't specifically mean that, I mean all of the film completed. For me, it all started in 2002, when I obtained a box of Froot Loops that had this DVD in a paper sleeve inside. At first, I thought it was Disney's Aladdin. (Note: Though I enjoy Aladdin, I think it's partly Disney's fault that the Cobbler is in this predicament) Back then, my family didn't own a DVD player so I had to watch it on my father's laptop, because it had a DVD drive.I was hooked the moment I saw the epic animation, hard to believe that a six-year-old brain could take in all that in one go. I have seen WB's licensing trailer and, despite my liking for the ruined edits, support those who wish to see the movie the way it was meant to be.Soon, I'll watch the Recobbled Cut and see how it should've been. Good luck to all the people who wish for an official restoration.
Kelly Jones I have been in love with this movie ever since it came out and I nearly wept with joy when it was released onto DVD. The Thief and the Cobbler is most definitely in my top 10 animated movies of all time. It's incredibly stylized with bright colors and a plethora of interesting characters. And it's FUNNY!! Every time I watch it I pick up a new joke or am finally able to understand one (because there are a lot of jokes only older folks will get) - like right after the desert bandits do their song and dance, the thief mutters, "Ah, just like Le Miz" - which I only caught and understood about a two years ago.DO NOT PASS THIS FILM UP! It really is, if I may borrow the term from Aladdin, a diamond in the rough!
