Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
starhorsepax When it came out I was a kid and it was a good movie. It's true it doesn't have the high quality of the movies released in theaters, but it was made for TV and had a lower budget. But the story is great and a fun adventure. I still love it years later. I found it interesting to find that apparently Lucas made this for his daughter who loved the Ewoks. So that makes it a 'family' adventure for him too.
farcoat I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie over and over as a child. Back then in the 80s we didn't have cable or VCR, we had what you call a BETA tape. You'd be lucky if it worked and luckily our Ewoks tape worked a lot during its course.Anyway the movie starts off giving us a hint of what happened to our protagonist's parents. It gives us also a mere glimpse of the beast as well. It then flash forwards us into what happened to the 2 kids, Cindel and Mace. Cindel is a very cute and friendly kid, whereas her older brother Mace is protective and seemingly narrow-minded.Throughout the movie you'll probably develop a distaste for Mace, and deep fondness for Cindel and the Ewoks.A great family movie, they re-mastered this on DVD and I got it as soon as I could. Brings back great memories, without the rewinder.
TheHande Caravan of Courage, the first of two Ewok films is a nice adventure film for kids, but too slow for adults to enjoy. The film captures the essential elements of what an Ewok film should be like but fails in certain other areas.Firstly the film looks rather messy in comparison to other LucasFilm productions and particularly when compared to its immediate sequel. The narrator is also more distracting than anything and would sound more appropriate in a nature documentary rather than a children's fantasy adventure film.On the other hand, the film sets itself apart from the bigger SW films quite nicely, feeling more like a fantasy than a science fiction film and having some fairly good special-effects and interesting creatures. But as said, adults are more likely to find the film numbing rather than enjoyable.
Keri This movie is excellent! I had this movie memorized at one time! I think I watched it everyday! Wicket is cute, Cindel is adorable and I had a big time crush on Mace!!! You find yourself IN the adventure WITH them! They're easy to love and you'll want to watch it over and over! OK, yes, the graphics aren't "LoTR" quality, but good grief...look at the DATE the move was made!!! Anything that has George Lucas involved is NOT boring! I loved every minute of this movie as a kid and I just watched the trailer on this website and now I want to rush out and buy the movie on DVD! I want my kids to fall in love with it like I did! So put down your cynicism, grab your popcorn, kick your feet up and be prepared to laugh, cry, and even maybe be scared a little! You can thank me later! =)
