Wow! Such a good movie.

Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.

Please please please read the one star reviews on this, ultimately if your going to watch the film at least know what your getting yourself into. I like suspense building, I like tension, I loved Mr Vampire and Chinese culture, I don't want to be accused of being a western reviewer who knows nothing about Asian movies or told that I just didn't get it. There are approximately 10 minutes of great visuals (not so great I needed to sit through the entirety of this film.)The characters are so bland and so uninteresting, the fact that I had any feelings towards them at all was down to the actors and certainly not the plot. The film dragged on and on... and on. The first time I tried to watch it I fell asleep, the second time was a real chore, had the remote been closer to me I would have sped up most scenes. Unfortunately I have to throw this on the list of another movie from China where the story and characters just fall completely flat compared with neighboring countries like Korea and Japan. I read somewhere that many film studios in China have closed due to piracy being so big there and it seems the only films being made are visual/special effects movies that companies feel will appeal to a wide audience and make money. This seems to fit with the general downtrend of good Chinese movies being made. The high reviews really surprise me with this movie and I highly recommend this is avoided at all costs. Don't fall for the clever trailer or the positive reviews this is a bad and soul-less movie.

THIS MIGHT BE A SPOILER!This film is better understood under the saying that your life will pass before your eyes at the moment of your death...With this in mind... the actor got to live his last and greatest role and died a meaningful death, when in fact he simply committed suicide quietly in the real world.People may not understand a lot of the cinema cultural references the movie is heavily based on, subtracting a lot of the emotions the movie is meant to cause in its audience.TIPSWatch "Mr. Vampire" series...

Rigor Mortis, alongside Dream Home (2011) and Vulgaria (2012) is a string of strikingly local, one-hundred percent "Made in HK" cantonese productions thoroughly tickling the film buds of HK-cinefreaks like myself.Prepared in a film industry long perceived as dead by me. One that since have been focusing on mainland China as its' main moviegoer, racking up Chinese-produced spectacles featuring dubbed mainland performers when not dishing out Lan Kwai Fong 1,2,3. This is a very, if not exceptionally, welcomed piece of what drove me to HK-cinema in the first place.Take a slice of 80's hopping vampires sans the comedy, blended into perfection with stylish visuals, Ju-On-esque storytelling, loads of urban cantonese profanities and one can totally engulf himself in a genuine Hong-Kong movie experience. One rarely stumbled upon today.Thank you, Juno Mak!

If you understand and can appreciate the cultural differences between western horror movies and those of the J horror genre, then THIS ONES FOR YOU.The storyline is not the most original ever seen yet it works, the acting by the cast was very good(please do not compare them to Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock),the cgi special effects was well done and the mood of the film projected the right vibe. If you followed the story and timeline of the film, it makes for a pretty satisfactory if not perfect ending . For fans of the J horror movie genre, this movie is definitely a cut above the majority of entries been cranked out. The first time director have started out with a movie that has set the bar high. For those not familiar with this particular genre, please look at it with a open mind and do not expect Friday THE 13TH.
