Disturbing yet enthralling

All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.

As a cult movie the IMDb weighting system means that a lot of the Scottish 10/10 votes get down-weighted.If you aren't Scottish there will be a lot of this movie that doesn't work for you. If you are then you will love it. If you happen to be an 80's child you will love it even more. From the magnificent scenery through Ned (Deliverance) Beatty's American tourist to the motorbike being chased down Princess Street by the Mark 1 Ford Escorts.Big Country fans should be warned though. If you watch this movie you will then have to go out and spend £30 on the Restless Natives and Rarities album and it is a nightmare to get hold of. Following that you are going to run the 37min track at the end of it round and round until your family and neighbours are all in the looney bin.Kevin

This movie is worth buying just for the stunning Scottish scenery accompanied by a fabulous soundtrack by Scottish rockers, Big Country. Add to this an amusingly light-hearted plot and an interesting twist to the tale, and this may well be the most entertaining movie ever to be produced in Scotland.Copies of the VHS video have been extremely difficult to find in recent years and, the fact that they have been selling for up to $150US on e-Bay will give you some idea how enjoyable it is.The DVD release is long overdue and would be a worthy addition to any DVD collection.

The fact that Big Country did the soundtrack for this drew me to it initially, but I found it a funny, moving and uplifting film and is great family viewing. The advert for Japanese motorcycles is a great highlight.I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I think this was the winner of a "Write your own film script" competition run by Barry Normans film review programme on the BBC.Please bring it out on DVD, I for one would buy it immediately.

This has got to be one the most funny and entertaining films ever to have been set in Scotland . My only gripes are the accents are obviously West of Scotland when it`s set in Edinburgh , a pedantic point but I come from Edinburgh originally but have spent most of my life in the West of Scotland so the erroneous accents stick out a mile to the trained ear , and the fact RESTLESS NATIVES suffers very badly from a weak ending . But this film is still a lot of fun
