Reviews
GarnettTeenage The film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.
DipitySkillful an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Roy Hart If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
Java_Joe Kung Fury is what you get when you take 80's action movie cheese and mix with a healthy dose of satire and every 80's movie cliche you can imagine. The result is just pure awesomeness. The original movie was only supposed to be about 10-20 minutes but when they put it on Kickstarter suddenly the money came rolling in and they just kept adding to it and adding to it until it topped out at 40 minutes. The story itself is... every 80's movie ever made. You've got the buddy cop story. You've got the cool 80's hacker. You've got a revenge motive. You've got martial arts. And you have David Hasselhoff. And there's also time travel, laser raptors, Viking babes, Thor and the most evil martial artist of all time Adolf Hitler a.k.a. Kung Fuhrer. It's ridiculous. It's silly. And it's altogether awesome. Do yourself a favor and check it out on Youtube.
bmtauto This movie does justice to the 1980s. I wish we could see more films like this. It was funny, had great fight scenes and incorporated funny cliches of the 1980s with taste.
zarakooo Anybody notice the striking similarity between this movie's poster and stranger things's poster??
ctu-65740 A Miami cop trained in the art of Kung-Fu travels back in time to defeat the most powerful villain of all: Kung Fuhrer. Kung Fury is a movie so bad it is good. It has cheesy 80's references along with goofy fight scenes. Kung Fury, the main character himself, is the producer of the movie. Actors 8/10: All the actors fit into their roles, none of them ever seem out of it or hating their role. The actors are genuine and enjoy the movie and they look the part as well. Two characters in the movie are played by Swedish comedians with not much acting experience. Despite that they are genuine with their characters as German soldiers.Effects 6/10: The movie is very green screened but it is not obvious most of the time. One part of the movie that is noticeable is when Kung Fury jumps off his car. It is noticeable that it is green screened but at the same time the scene is meant to be funny. The 80's retro theme is very good though. The movie has an arcade feeling to it and it looks like a blast to the past. Another point in the movie that this cheesy 80's feel comes in is when Kung Fury travels back in time. He surfs on a keyboard through a Tron like portal.Plot 8/10: The plot hits exactly what it was trying to do: having a goofy 80's arcade movie. A Miami cop that goes back in time to fight Hitler. A funny and good movie overall that anybody can watch. Overall 8/10: The movie is a goofy and fun time that anyone can watch and enjoy. The actors are genuine and the overall effects are decent albeit sometimes noticeable. If you are looking for a movie to watch with friends that has references to old 80's TV shows this is a great choice for you. Plus, it has the Hoff 9000 Kung Fury's talking car.
