Extract Trailers

The owner of a factory that produces flavor extracts, Joel Reynold seems to have it all, but really doesn't. What's missing is sexual attention from his wife, Suzie. Joel hatches a convoluted plan to get Suzie to cheat on him, thereby clearing the way for Joel to have an affair with Cindy, an employee. But what Joel doesn't know is that Cindy is a sociopathic con artist, and a freak workplace accident clears the way for her to ruin Joel forever.

CommentsXp Best movie ever!
Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Python Hyena Extract (2009): Dir: Mike Judge / Cast: Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, Kristen Wiig, Ben Affleck, David Koechner: Mike Judge's hilarious follow up to Office Space regarding expelling confrontation. Jason Bateman plays a factory owner that produces flavored goods. When an employee is injured, his plan to sell the company is halted. On a personal side his wife refuses sexual relations therefore forcing him to accept an offer to have a gigolo seduce her so that he may be free to pursue the attractive new employee. Well written and hilarious with Bateman torn in numerous directions. He has a possible lawsuit on his hands as well as dealing with a gigolo that he tried to call off. His neighbor is very imposing, and his best friend places him in a drug afflicted situation that lands him in hot water. How Bateman handles all this is one of the film's charms as mending and forgiveness are uplifted. Mila Kunis plays a con artist newly hired who attempts to sabotage the business by hooking up with an injured employee. How she is found out is one of the film's great revelations. Kristen Wiig plays Bateman's wife who refuses sex. When he hires a gigolo she regrets an affair. Ben Affleck plays Bateman's drug addicted bartender friend. David Koechner steals every scene he is in as a talkative annoying neighbor. It shows how a series of bad decisions can destroy what matters. Score: 10 / 10
Tim Little Firstly, if you watch this expecting a comedy you're likely to be sorely disappointed.Secondly, you are unlikely to find a more unpleasant, unsympathetic bunch of characters in many other movie. From the boss of a small 'extract' company (whatever that is) who sets up his easy wife with a dumb-and-dumber pool cleaner to the selfish, lazy, lower-than- average intelligence factory workers there is not one character that 'extracted' an ounce of sympathy or empathy from this viewer. The irritating next door neighbour is the closest this film approaches to comedy but thats not close, maybe the next county. Acting performances are adequate but, (did I imagine it) it's almost possible to detect the embarrassment among the cast over their involvement in this unappetising offering.Unusually, it is Ben Affleck alone who is able to make something of the material available to him in the form of a drug dealing, hippy barman. It's not much though, and not nearly enough. The plot is trite and ludicrous. The stock Hollywood happy endings round everything off nicely - for everybody except the viewer who is left wondering what the point of this film was - as it seems to fail on all levels.
blanche-2 I love Jason Bateman, so I catch any film he's in. This one is "Extract," a Mike Judge film from 2009.Joel is the owner of an extract manufacturing plant. He's not having an easy time of it. His wife (Kristen Wiig) won't have sex with him because he gets home too late, so he is constantly trying to get home before he puts on the sweat pants - because then it's over. He never makes it, and on the day that he almost makes it, he is stopped by the world's most talkative neighbor (David Koechner) who wants to see if Joel and his wife will attend the Rotary Club dinner. Meanwhile, Joel has taken advice from a drug addict as to how to prove if his wife was faithful, so she's now sleeping with someone she thinks is the pool man. That's on the personal front. Then his floor manager is seriously injured in a machine accident and it looks like a big lawsuit. His new employee, Cindy, is a scam artist, and is encouraging the injured man to soak the company dry.Joel had an offer to sell the company which, with the lawsuit, may not happen. Does he even want to sell? Does he want his marriage? He doesn't know, but he'd better find out.Comedy movies with wacky characters in wacky situations is my favorite thing. With a little more tightening, this movie could have been hilarious. As it is, it's amusing, but maybe there are one too many things going on.Still, the performances are good, and it has some very funny situations.
OJT I wasn't planning either to see this, or to review it, but I still both sat down watching if, and after that I frog I had to put down some words. It's starts off cozy enough, but then it gets very boring, and looks like it's going to be another stupid comedy with sexual explicit language and "fun" which I hard, because it's in too many of these Hollywood comedies, and that I find it boring. However, after the first half (I'm afraid it's almost that long before it gets interesting) it sucks you in. This is dud to good acting, and some great little roles, like agent Simmons as a lawyer.I finally got some greats laughs, and that makes me give this a 6/10. Better than most such comedies.
