SmugKitZine Tied for the best movie I have ever seen
Tockinit not horrible nor great
AutCuddly Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
TaryBiggBall It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
lysamher its funny how the ratings for all the madeas movies are sooo low but the movies are sooo funny.. i will tell you. madea is not for everyone.. its either u love madea or u hate madea.. if you enjoy his movies, you will enjoy all of them. honestly, i am Asian and i believe a lot of the people who gave all the madea movies one star are probably all or majority of them are white. excuse me not just white but racist white folks that probably got offended. if you look at the reviews, a lot of them have 8, 9 or 10 stars but its the 1'z that bring the rating below what it should be. i think the majority of the madeas movies would range from at least 6 to 8 stars if it weren't for those that rated it a 1 because they were offended.
Vins_gurl18 Wow...where do I begin??First of all, I'm slowly but surely becoming a fan of Tyler Perry's films. I haven't liked ALL of his films, but for the most part I love a lot of his films like: the "Why Did I Get Married" films, "I Can Do Bad All By Myself", and now...I can add "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" to this list! I have to admit, I held off from watching this movie for YEARS because I thought (just based on the title) that the movie was perpetuating the stereotypical image of the "angry black woman" and frankly I didn't want to support that.Well, I finally broke down and got a chance to watch this movie the other day, and let me tell you....I LOVED it! This movie pretty much changed my life! I have been harboring some resentment and anger over an ex boyfriend who did me wrong for years, and while I had started to get over it, it wasn't until I saw this movie that I truly was moved to COMPLETELY forgive him for how he treated me.What Helen (Kimberly Elise) went through with her husband in the film can in NO way compare to what my ex put me through. What her husband did to her makes the problems that my ex and I went through look like a tiny paper cut. I really admire her character's strength, and ability to FORGIVE towards the end of the film. It just showed me that we as women can overcome any type of adversity if we simply try hard enough, forgive the person, forgive ourselves, and ask for God's help. Now, I have firmly resolved to truly FORGIVE my ex completely for how he treated me and to just move on instead of reliving the past. This film moved me so much. :) Of course the cast was great as always. I saw a different side to Shemar Moore (Orlando) that I don't usually see too often. Steve Harris (Charles) was the guy that you just loved to hate in the film. He made it pretty easy believe me! LOL! And of course Madea was in the film and pretty much stole every scene "she" was in lol. I was howling with laughter at the jokes! Overall, like most of Tyler Perry's films, this film takes you through the ringer, but shows towards the end that you can overcome any type of adversity or trials. It really is a feel-good movie towards the end, and if you're a woman who's ever had a bad break up or had a man do you wrong, you will be able to relate to Helen in the film and this movie will uplift you. :) I'm so glad I watched it! Definitely 8/10 stars for me!
shelbi_woo21 Diary of a Mad Black Woman is a great movie. I love that it has a lot of emotion. There are tears, laughs and resentment. The way that Tyler Perry set this movie up, he is applying a spiritual message and a lesson. It's a very strong and helpful message for women. I love the fact that a man wrote this story to help women with bad relationships and giving advice on what to do with them. I love the fact that Perry makes a real situation funny and still teaches a lesson. Helen McCarter (Kimberly Elise) plays the role of a distraught wife after her husband breaks her news that he had an affair. Perry couldn't have chosen anyone else to play this role better than her. From the tears, to laughs, to the facial expressions, she made them look and seem so real. My favorite character was Joe (Tyler Perry) who is Helen's uncle also Madea's (Tyler Perry) brother. He always had something slick to say to everything, and everything he said was either degrading to someone or he was just being stupid.I realli enjoyed this movie. Two thumbs up.
saturdaynightbeaver Nothing seemed to match in this film. I found myself in the realistic world of a successful couple and then suddenly a madcap, lame version of the ghetto. I found a female lead that was charming and smart, then suddenly she shows no social savvy or wit at all.Continuity is important to a film experience and I was constantly reminded I was watching a film in this one. Sets didn't match, worlds didn't match , and the logic of characters didn't match in the slightest. Two good examples: A woman finds her man with another woman with the inference that he is cheating. She goes home to find her closet and things packed up with a whole new wardrobe to replace it. And she thinks that this is her husband's way of giving a gift to her? No one with any amount of street smarts would believe that all their packed belongings bodes well. The other is simply a character low on money shooting a hole in a the ceiling for no good reason other than getting someone's attention in a moment of banality. I'm guessing Mr. Perry was looking for a laugh, but simply shooting a gun isn't funny. And no transvestite grandma in any walk of life would ever do that.
