Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
sunchick116-872-583383 'Descendants' became a guilty pleasure of mine. How could you go wrong, with Kristen chenoweth and Kathy najimy? Well I'll tell you how: 'descendants 2'. Remove acting greats from the equation and you just have another campy Disney channel movie. I'll also admit I'm a hopeless romantic who fell for mal and ben's relationship in the first one. Well, the 2nd takes that away for a while, leaving me to be quite bored. Again, Campy. Not even the music was as good this time around. The films redeeming quality doesn't come until the end. I won't spoil it but let's just all say thank god for Disney channel finally allowing some PDA! Even so, I'll stick to the first one, which at least evoked emotion out of me, including 'if only' which I still can't listen to without crying!
cmcoulter-19193 The first one really got my hopes up for this movie, and I was enjoying all the preview clips. However, this movie really let me down. The music is incredibly standard pop music that's heavily auto-tuned. Seeing real people lip sync to it was jarring. The choreography was good, if a little predictable at times. The high point of the movie for me was the introduction of the character Uma. Her song wasn't great, but it had fierce choreography danced incredibly well by the entire ensemble. Overall, it was very standard. With a premise like this, so much could be done with the characters. Instead we had dramatic friend breakup songs that led to nothing, a horrendous talking dog, and a whole lot of nothing. Boring and not worth the watch.
MissSimonetta You guys are taking this thing way too seriously: Descendants the first was ridiculous fan fiction material and the sequel is even more outrageous-- and entertaining! Rap battles over magic wands! Crazy fashions that will date within six months! PlayStation One levels of CG! Over the top performances! Unfortunately, we don't get Maleficent tap-dancing, but you do get Dove Cameron and China Anne McClain fighting to see who can chew the most scenery. The script is silly per usual. The characters are all obligated to mention which famous Disney character is their sire and it never feels organic, but then again, we all know these movies were made to sell toys and iTunes singles, not tell much of a story at all. Nevertheless, it is amazing if you're in the right frame of mind.
Hermione Granger The first was okay--cheesy, but still with good songs (except for the stinkin' RAP "Be Our Guest") and great acting, but this is horrible. No matter what director they get, Disney cannot make one sequel original. Here, Mal feels evil and is on the Isle of the Lost. She also tries to trick someone into eating a poisoned food to make him do what she wants. The baddies' kids try to steal the fairy godmother's wand. Someone turns into a dragon. Sound familiar? I don't get why Disney, which can make the most magical movies, has to make a replica of the first. And what's the point of the fairy godmother's wand, anyway? Why not keep Maleficent's staff? And wouldn't Uma want King Triton's trident? The acting is poor, if you'd even call it acting. It seems like the actors just memorized the lines and recited them blandly. Urusla, who is kind of a human-squid, should have squid-ish tentacles, but instead, she looks like rubber. Almost all CGI was poor. It seems these great actors are put to waste. Like another said, Cameron Boyce (Carlos) is amazing, yet is always in the background. And did you know that Booboo Stewart (Jay) was actually in X-men AND Twilight? Then they're in this rubbish. Oh, and also, though "It's Going Down" was a great song, Ben's part was HORRIBLE. He's a great singer, but it was mushy, and he looked too innocent. No, not everything is wrong with it. Though like someone else said, spelling "wicked" out loud would get you bullied, "Ways to Be Wicked" is catchy. China Anne McClain is a good singer. The CGI of the dragon is good, and I loved that Lonnie, Mulan's daughter, finally got to show of her fighting skills. And no, disliking this does not mean you are a Disney hater. Disney lovers don't love everything Disney. Instead, they treasure Disney, especially the classics, and know and can tell when something is different or not as special, like this.On the other hand, this is targeted toward kids, so they may enjoy it. That's why I'm giving it extra stars. In the end, great for kids under 8. Stinks for people that expect it to match the original or want CGI as good as the live-action Jungle Book or as good acting and character depth as Tangled. No one who expects the characters to be the same as they were in their original classics will be satisfied. So if you're over 8, skip this.
