Reviews
Plantiana Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.
Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Fleur Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
Fella_shibby I first saw this on a dvd in 2005. Revisited it recently on a dvd which i own. The twist is really good for first time viewing. The suspense n dread is maintained throughout. The isolated car in an isolated road in the middle of a forest was damn creepy. Viewers r transported with the Harrington family. Ray wise n Lin Shaye were amazing. The second viewing allowed me to laugh more. The fighting between the elder couples, the way Lin Shaye describes in drawing the dead body parts of her daughter's boyfriend, the gunshot scene, the confession of the extramarital offspring, Shaye's admittance that she couldnt satisfy her husband's sexual fantasies n now that she will allow her husband to sexually use her any which way he likes, Shaye massaging her exposed brain n enjoying the feel of it like an orgasm, etc. were filled with black humour. I had kept a track on the directors' work but unfortunately the directors jus disappeared. The female who played the ghost was hot but she too unfortunately disappeared.
akirakiyosawa I never leave reviews; this is my first one. I just thought that I had to share my view about this movie. I rated it 2/10. The points are for the acting (the actress who plays the mum is just SO good) and for the "character development" we see during the movie. Many things about their lives are discovered, as we keep watching, but it's all just so absurd that you keep thinking "what the hell I'm watching?" The characters themselves are odd. Their reactions are ridiculous. I think that it was the aim of this movie... making it different. But it was just really too much comical for a horror movie. I found myself laughing many times, and never got a jumpscare or just felt the "thrill". Nothing. I finished it because I wanted to see what was the point of the whole movie and I found no reply.
sforrester-3 I read a few reviews of this prior to watching and some of them from "horror buffs" almost put me off but I'm glad I decided to give it a go anyway. This film is not to be taken seriously and if you do try and take it seriously I can pretty much guarantee you will think it is awful. We are talking about a horror where the only time I jumped was when a packet of crisps (potato chips if you are from across the pond) got opened. What this film is, is a frivolous bit of fun, not really scary, not laugh out loud funny but to me, an enjoyable and uncomplicated bit of fun. Yes, you can see every plot point coming a mile off and yes the ending is predictable but for some reason I enjoyed it because of that rather than in spite of it. It kind of reminds me of the safer horrors I was allowed to watch as a kid so maybe a bit of nostalgia is creeping in but I liked it.
Seth_Rogue_One If it takes you more, you clearly have not seen a lot of horror movies. It would probably have been a solid 30 or 45 minute Tales From The Crypt episode, but as a whole movie? No.It's super-predictable and you are constantly fed clues of what's going on to the point that you wonder if the film-makers expects their viewers to be complete idiots. The acting is alright though, Lin Shaye as always is superb and Ray Wise is above average as well, and there is some talent behind the camera; visually it's perfectly fine. But yeah, honestly, I am clueless to why people are praising this one.Give it a pass, or watch it with extremely low expectations.
