Plustown A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

Paul Magne Haakonsen Usually I am a bit hesitant about sitting down to watch these animated "Batman" movies. Why? Well, because I am not overly keen on superhero movies. Right, well I know that Batman is not a superhero as such, but it is within a superhero universe, so that is enough. But still, my 8 year old son wanted to watch it, so I sat down together with him to watch it."Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero" actually turned out to be one of the better animated "Batman" movies that I have seen. Not because of the animation style or the voice acting, but because of the story. This story actually had some contents and some value to it.Personally, I can't claim to be much of a fan of the particular style of drawing that they were using in this animated movie; those chiseled chins is just too much to take in.As for the voice cast, well I wasn't impressed. With that being said, don't get me wrong, because I am not saying that the voice acting was bad. They were actually fair enough, but it just wasn't outstanding. I didn't recognize a single voice throughout the movie, but only recognized one voice from the end credits, and that was Marilou Henner.All in all, an entertaining enough animated movie for what it turned out to be.

Pjtaylor-96-138044 'Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero (1998)' is more of a continuation of 'Batman: The Animated Series (1992)' than a proper stand-alone feature and, as such, doesn't introduce or even really develop any of its characters. They're all close to their usual incarnations, though, which means even those unfamiliar with the show should find their footing fairly fast, if they know at least one previous version of these players. Mr. Freeze is really the star here, as the antagonist is given a clear motive and some nice characterisation that makes him more than the typical 'bad-guy' fare. This is usually the case, as the cold character has a clear driving-force that means he is just as likely to team up with the caped crusader as try to freeze him solid, and he has consistently been one of Batman's better villains - aside from in 'Batman & Robin (1997)' - ever since his character has been fully figured out. The overall narrative is a little messy, however. It's marred by frequent and long fade-to-black 'chapter breaks', from the piece's original television airing, and leans a little into the 'damsel in distress' cliché, though this 'damsel' does fight every step of the way aside from in the initial kidnapping sequence. It also features bizarrely little of the dark knight for a picture that bares his name. Emphasis is placed on the set-up and subsequent detective work, making for an unconventional structure that doesn't really feel so much a feature as an extended television episode. Still, the unconventional approach and less focus on fisticuffs is slightly refreshing; the piece remains and intriguing and entertaining watch throughout. The consistently noir-ish and sometimes awe-inspiring animation brings our hero, his friends and his foes to life with a beautiful verve that's only sometimes besmirched by odd and out-of-place, if occasionally slightly effective, 3D elements. This makes the flick a feast for the eyes even with its basic, slightly 'Scooby-Doo', art-style and adds a lot of value to the already engaging adventure. 6/10

adonis98-743-186503 If this film was only more than 1 hour it would be even more better. That was the only thing that bagged me we don't see Batgirl too much and Batman isn't really that much of the leading character here but the animation is good and the action is good if they could turn Batman & Robin like that then the franchise wouldn't be terminated like that. The film came out on 1998 one year after Batman 4 and it has Kevin Conroy as Batman once more although is never as good as Mask Of The Phantasm and The Return Of The Joker is still a good Batman film with great characters and a pretty cool story. I give it a 10 because i had fun with it.

utgard14 Mr. Freeze's wife needs an organ transplant and Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, is the only acceptable blood match. So Freeze kidnaps her while she's on a date with Dick Grayson, aka Robin. Batman and Robin race against time to rescue Barbara before it's too late. Very good animated movie that's miles better than Joel Schumacher's craptacular movie that also featured Mr. Freeze and Batgirl, released not long before this. What might surprise some is that Batman is largely absent from the first half of this. It still works, though, due to the great characterizations and writing. Although this is nowhere near as strong as the award-winning "Heart of Ice" episode of Batman: The Animated Series. That episode was the best Mr. Freeze story ever told in any form of media. This is still a very enjoyable movie, hampered slightly by some sloppy animation. The story does feel like it could have been a two-part episode of the TV series but since the series was excellent I fail to see how that's a negative.
