I was totally surprised at how great this film. You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

I stumbled on this 2009 movie over the weekend looking for something to watch. I normally would not have chosen a movie that looks like a cheap thriller in the line of The Ruins, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is entertaining and, well, surprising. It stars Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich, as well as Timothy Olyphant, who is one of my celebrity crushes, and the main reason that I watched it at all. It was made by David Twohy, who is best known for Pitch Black and Riddick. Not sure why so many of the users here complain about the ending - it was explained adequately in my opinion, and if it was contrived, that doesn't detract from the general entertainment value of the film. It didn't change my life, but it was a fun 2 hours.

Two pairs of lovers on a Hawaiian vacation discover that psychopaths are stalking and murdering tourists on the islands. A Perfect Getaway (2009) is one of those rare good movies that go straight up to DVD and their actually pretty clever you know? This film keeps you guessing for who the actual killers are and once it finally gets revealed although it did came across my mind it was still a clever twist overall, the cast does a really great job especially the 4 main leads Milla Jovovich, Steve Zahn, Timothy Olyphant and Kiele Sanchez. Plus you also get a small but interesting first look to Chris Hemsworth in this movie 2 years before he became 'The God of Thunder'. The suspense hits the roof, the action is well edited and the characters alongside the actors do a pretty good job and although the movie dragged in some parts it still was able to deliver with that very smart twist in the end and personally i think you won't be disappointed by this film. (8/10)

A Perfect Getaway is living proof that a famous cast DOES NOT make a good movie. This is a really dull, lifeless movie which keeps the viewer under the illusion that at some point in time, something exciting is going to happen, but it never does. I watched about two thirds of A Perfect Getaway, and gave up because it got SO boring. I always see movies through to the end, even when I'm not particularly enjoying them, but for this one I felt obliged to make an exception. If you want almost two hours of literally nothing, go right ahead and watch this. But if you like movies in which stuff actually happens, do yourself a favour and get away, seriously.

This movie is brilliant. The joke is on the negative comment people, and the ones who say the ending was an insult to their intelligence, because they were lulled into thinking they were watching just another thriller, and were not perceptive enough to catch the fifteen or more solid, yet subtle, clues as to "who done it." I missed a lot of it too, the first time, but I still loved the movie enough to watch it again, and again, and again, each time seeing more and more of these should- be-obvious clues. This is a masterpiece, not only as a screenplay, but as social commentary on how we let our entertainment lull and carry us, instead of actively engaging intellectually with it. All the male leads were spot on, and the females were only a half-step behind. God, I love this movie; watch it two or more times, and I think you will too.
