Reviews
Glucedee It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
Twilightfa Watch something else. There are very few redeeming qualities to this film.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Darin One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
garthlotel Costner is great as the quietly dying action hero. The story is of course ridiculous, and unfortunately Amber Heard is both terrible and unbelievable in a one dimensional nonsensically evil role. But the action is great, the pacing is perfect and the settings are refreshingly new and different. It's not a typical action film and it's all in all enjoyable, hence the 8 stars.
Gordon-11 This film tells the story of a secret agent who is forced to do one last job in exchange for an experimental treatment for an illness. The story sounds like a thriller, but the delivery of the plot is not as thrilling as it could have been. It is punctuated by frequent lighthearted moments, which interrupts the flow of the thrill. Out of all the characters in the film, I like Hailee Steinfeld the best because she seems the most natural.
huguespt Quite a few reviewers bag this movie, I just don't know what people expect these days. I guess they expect every single movie made to be in their taste and a Billion Dollar AAA+++ movie. Anyway, as a spy movie, it is not a 10/10 but it is also a good family movie (8) above, you know your own children. Normal violence you would expect from a Spy Thriller but not as bad as the XXX movies. There is a lot of family values and struggles that many families can relate too and I believe the writers portrayed that very well. Costner's acting in this was about an 8/10 as were the others excluding his on screen daughter who I thought was superb. Costner delivers a believable performance/character, just not his best. The action is frequent enough to keep you entertained along with the Costner on Screen family and another On Screen Family who have lessons for us all. The filming and angles I thought where great and in some cases extremely difficult, although in this day and age, anything can be done on a computer. All in all this will appeal to those who like a Spy Thriller, a Family movie, bit do not expect this to be XXX or one of the latest James Bond movies. Worth watching, an 8/10 overall and I would watch it gain. I guess if they threw more millions at it, it could have been better received by some of the harsher critics on here.
room102 Written by Luc Besson, directed by McG ("Terminator 4"), starring Kevin Costner (yeah, apparently he's still alive) and taking place in Paris. This is a weird combination of serious action and comedy. A "James Bond"/"Mission Impossible" type of guy balancing between working for the CIA and his family. It takes a while to understand that the family thing is not just a minor back story, but actually a big part of the movie.Mostly it's entertaining, some parts are a bit boring. In any case, you'll have to suspend your disbelief and not take the movie too seriously if you want to enjoy it.Costner is actually pretty good in his role. I can't remember the last time I saw him playing in anything.
