Lancoor A very feeble attempt at affirmatie action
ChicRawIdol A brilliant film that helped define a genre
Stephanie There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Edwin The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
benjaminburt However good Spider-man was on release, it has not aged especially well. Nevertheless, with 9 Spidey cartoons to date, this is probably the most classical, and most other Spidey cartoons will no doubt be compared to this one. What hasn't aged well about this cartoon? Modern viewers may be inspired by animated TV series that appeal to both adults and children, and forget how dumbed-down most 90s cartoons were. Some of the problems include tedious and on-the-nose dialogue, as well as censorship of language and guns. Some of that classical animation doesn't hold up well, especially considering the pretty embarrassing re-use of certain bits of animation across various episodes. Spider-man is definitely outclassed by a few of its contemporaries, like X-men, the Tick, and, of course, Batman. Even though it doesn't hold up especially well, it's a great show for kids. It's got fine plot lines and exposes them to a good role model. The characters are distinct and memorable, and all of the classic Spider-man villains (except Sand-man . . . I'm a little disappointed about that) and side-characters come to life in this old cartoon. And, of course, how does this cartoon compare to the others? Well, why don't I give you some comparisons:The 60's cartoon, 80's cartoon, and Amazing Friends are all very old, very dated, and good for a corny laugh. Unlimited was a pretty poor execution that never panned out, and the 2003 show never really found a home or was able to stand on its own. Spectacular definitely surpasses Spider-man (1994) in plot, dialogue, character, pacing, and censorship is more natural, but I can see how a lot of people could get hung up on the different animation style, lackluster character design that looks like something out of Kim Possible, and a few disappointing voice actors.Ultimate is a return to form for animation and character design, and is part of the larger Marvel Animated Universe of the time, and has some awkward 3-D models in the show. Though the voice acting is definitely a step down from Spectacular, it's more modern than 1994. It's definitely not going to be remembered as the definitive Spider-man, especially because of the largely unlikable lead and kowtowing to children.Spider-man '17 is embarrassingly bad in voice acting, animation, and the plot line and characters and just fine, run-of-the-mill.
Terryfan Spider-Man The Animated Series came at the time when comic book superheroes were getting well done well told animated shows.True believers will agree that this series did Spider-Man justice for not only it's impressive animation style but for staying true to the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.Marvel had many shows based on their comics on Fox Kids and the two that stick out the most to me are Spider-Man and X-men.Many of the series episodes were inspired by the comic books like Venom saga and the six armed story line.So props for the makers of this show for making it where kids can watch it but adults can enjoy it as well. They really got some good voice actors to play the characters like Christoper Daniel Barnes was the right choice for Spider-Man and his alter ego Peter Parker.Jennifer Hale, Sara Ballantine, Edward Asner, Roscoe Lee Browne and many more did very well with their characters as well. The Animation for the show is very impression for the the 90s with hand drawn animation and some camera tricks where you get the feel of actually swinging with Spider-Man.The villains for the show are many favorites from the fans like Kingpin, Scorpion, The Lizard, The Green Goblin, Venom, Carnage and many others. The voice acting helps with fine writing tell the story of episode as they play into the next one.Marvel hit a home run with one of the flagship characters for their brand.Overall if you're a True Believer and a fan of Marvel you will enjoy this classic
WakenPayne I know this is a Saturday Morning Cartoon in the 1990's. I actually watched this when I was a kid. Something like X-Men ages well however something like this... Is sketchy but then again it isn't terrible. It could have been a lot worse. The animation of this show especially in the earlier episodes, isn't particularly good. I am not judging it based on that but it sometimes gets awful. I remembered the animation being a little better but I guess it's just one of those things. Then there is the stories I'll give credit - they're not that bad. I mean the Venom storyline is one in particular that I would like to see handled in a non-corny light. They didn't do that well in places, towards the end Venom falls in love with a girl who did nothing but say he was crazy. You have things like that all throughout the run of the show. Now onto the corniness. I did elaborate on some of that in the last paragraph but I'll tell you where the cheese really shines through - the dialogue. I know this is a Saturday Morning cartoon but this is almost on par with the 1960's Marvel Super Heroes cartoon - yes it is on par with that.Aside from that there isn't much to comment on with this show, if you have children that are really into superheroes this one is definitely worth a look for them. Chances are that you may like it too if you can look past the cheesiness of it all.
GreenGoblinsOckVenom86 That's why I give this an 8/10. In the first season Spidey fights some robots called Spider Slayers. The first season had some of my favorite villains like Kingpin (though I hated as the seasons went on he was pretty much behind everything and making all the other villains work for him with the exception of Allyster Smythe and Silvermain and his daughter Alicia), Doc Ock, Venom/Eddie Brock (I liked the development Eddie Brock had before he became Venom), Hob Goblin (voiced by Mark Hamill who does an excellent job just like he did with Joker on all the animated Batman cartoons in the 90s), Mysterio, Hydro Man (who I didn't care for) and Scorpion. The later seasons were good. I really liked season 2 where they introduced Morbious who hadn't been in a cartoon at all previously. After season 3 it went downhill a bit. Let me explain my main gripe with season 4. At the end of season 3 Green Goblin throws Mary Jane off a bridge and she falls into a dimensional portal made by a device called the time dilation accelerator which had been in a previous episode. She is not seen again. Then in season 4 she suddenly appears again. But unfortanatley it turns out she's a clone created by Dr. Miles Warren (who in the comics had cloned Gwen Stacey cause he was in love with her and also had an alter ego The Jackel). What's also stupid is that it turns out she was cloned with Hydro Man's DNA. He had died in the first season but then they had him cloned by this Miles Warren. Hydro Man was a guy that was in love with Mary Jane when she was younger. He wanted to be with her and forced Miles Warren to clone her. This is nothing at all like the original clone saga of the comics. Though Hydro Man never had a relationship with Mary Jane in the comics which is a reason why I didn't like him in the cartoon. There were some good episodes in Season 4 like the ones where Harry is the Green Goblin or the trial of Robbie Robertson. Or the ones with Black Cat. But the clone saga was done rather poorly. Now the 5th season was kind of good though I would've left the clone saga out of the finale. Not to mention the last 2 episodes take place in an alternate universe where Peter Parker loses Aunt May and turns to a life of crime. I do kind of like these last 2 episodes but I really would've rather it ended with Spidey rescuing Mary Jane from the dimension she was stuck in. Another episode I didn't care for in season 4 was one where an actress who I don'tremember ends up a cyborg and is in love with Mysterio/Quentin Beck/Mysterio. They both end up blowing themselves up in an underground facility. I really thought that was dumb. That wasn't in the comics either. Overall this is a good show but the later episodes in season 4 aren't that good. Oh. I forgot. Another part of season 4 was good. It was called Six Forgotten Warriors and deals with Peter's parents. It was really good.
