    ReaderKenka Let's be realistic.
Micah Lloyd Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Ted_Parkinson A really funny (and ironic) show. Kind of poked fun at Star Trek and many other shows of that ilk. Captain Star was an ego-centric self-promoter not very interested in running the ship, but great at taking credit for everything that might be discovered. His crew was wonderfully idiosyncratic and the episodes mildly crazy but always entertaining. I think "witty and ironic" are the best ways of describing it.There was only one season produced (I think) so anyone viewing these episodes should write to whomever they can and demand more. It's too bad that bright little lights like this get dimmed and then burn out. The writing was much sharper than most of what is around today.
Travis_Moran This is so way out it's awesome.Seems to be a bit of a spoof of StarTrek. It's original to say the least. The Captain is so dense, but so likable. He has an immense ego, but doesn't realise it himself. And it's so humorous the way he ignores Scarlett's romantic advances. Nine-headed Jones is way cool too. He's my favourite. The fish guy is so sensitive at the wrong moments. There is some really good characterisation here.Imagine stoking the engines on a starship like old-time steamships. Imagine the mission of the Boiling Hell (name of Star's ship) being to search out new civilisations and sell them stuff. Naming new planets after the captain. Moons carved to the captain's likeness. Weird looking aliens. Capt. Star sitting in a wheelbarrow at the end of each episode writing his totally dry and inappropriate memoirs. Nothing is predictable which makes this series so cool. For some sci-fi humour, you can't beat this series. I don't think there are very many episodes because I keep seeing the same ones repeated on the Space channel. This is an oddity, but it's worth watching. Maybe not the best animation, but it will give you a chuckle. For some reason IMDb didn't have a rating spot for this. But I rate this 7 out of 10.
sapphirecrystal 'Captain Star' is a strange one, and yet, it's highly entertaining. The animation style is unique, with a whole slew of wierd aliens and mutants and who-knows-what appearing time to time. Captain Star himself is a hoot, if you ask me. The feel of the show is mature and relaxed, but still appropriate for kids and folks with a sense of humor. The creators definitely had good imagination when coming up with each episode, and the creativity shows. This is one Teletoon in Canada, unfortunately, airs the shows at late night, making it a little hard to watch, but if you can stay up late enough, you'll be in for a treat.
