dee.reid Mike Judge's "King of the Hill" was his next great success following "Beavis and Butthead" on MTV. "King of the Hill" follows Arlen, Texas, native and conservative family man Hank Hill, and his family and their circle of weird but likable friends. The show is also a satire of Texas life, and the sometimes absurd and eccentric attitudes of people who live there.I remember when this show first premiered 13 years ago in 1997 and I thinking that this is the next great show FOX had to offer after "The Simpsons." I always looked forward to watching "King of the Hill" after "The Simpsons" every Sunday night before bedtime (I was still in elementary school around the time this show first premiered on television).Mike Judge cannot fail in providing a show with a lot of great laughs and out-sized and unusual characters. That has always been one of his strengths as a show producer. After hearing that this show would be canceled earlier this year, I was quite disappointed. I'm not sure why this move was made (it could have had something to do with the tragic death of actress Brittany Murphy in December of last year), but I guess it just makes more room for Judge to lend his creative juices to another great animated satire.10/10

Aaron1375 I never really could get into this show as for the most part I found it very unfunny. I only watch it now occasionally because it comes on adult swim and my girlfriend and I usually watch it on that channel when there is absolutely nothing else on television. Why if I do not care for the show you ask? Well there is the once in a while chuckle to be had from the show so it is not all bad. However, for the most part I find it rather boring and the jokes just sputter and die. I would say I am glad the show finally got taken off the air, but I do not really have that view of it as plenty of shows I enjoy are long gone now so I actually hate to see this one go as it is one more non reality television show that is off the air leaving more space for another trash show about swapping children, singing badly or whatever else comes on a show these days. The basic premise of the show revolves around a father just like in other animated television shows from "The Flintstones" and "The Jetsons" to the later hits "Family Guy" and "The Simpsons" (granted the Simpsons really started out being more focused on son Bart). The dad works at a propane company and the fact that he works at this propane company and really enjoys his job and propane is a source of jokes for the entire run of the series. After awhile you think they could just dispense with jokes about his boring job. His wife is a substitute teacher and their son is not really everything his father would hope he is. From time to time you would think this show was taking place in the 1950's as wife Peggy looks like that is where she got that hairstyle. However, it has to be taking place in the present as they have many shows based on current trends in technology and stuff. They have a niece who lives with them and causes them much grief and Hank (the father) has a strange assortment of friends. One of which has another one of those gags that keep on going to long as a husband has a cheating wife and he is obviously raising the other man's son as his own. Just not a show I really care for, I did like Beavis and Butthead, but that is because their show was less structured and random than King of the Hill is. At times you could say that it might as well not be animated.

EdgeRatedRSuperstar King of the Hill is simply a boring cartoon series with some Texan family showing their troubles every day. If you are bored by that yet wait to see the episodes. The story goes so slow that it's even painful to watch and about that heart-warming thing that it delivers in the end, well i get that from the Simpsons, in a better way, so no thanks. Of course, the boredom doesn't stop here. the animation is just horrible for a today's cartoon and, of course, all of the characters are a bunch of stereotypes mixed together that produce nothing funny. Speaking of stereotypes, there is a particular episode that made me personally angry (while i was bored). That episode with Hank's son playing football (soccer) instead of American "football" and that upsets Hank a lot and they characterize soccer as "girly" and showing off American football as the best choice (typical Americans). I guess the only reason why people like it is because it's pure American. (the flag is shown 100 times, trucks, American football, etc)Anyway, there is really not much to say about the characters. Hank and friends drink beer and say "yep". His wife gets always obsessed or mad about something or someone. His daughter is plain stupid. His son has problems etc.If there was a show to take off from Sunday afternoon this would be the perfect choice. 1/10 because cartoons are suppose to be funny or at least not boring.

kev89 I've been watching King of the Hill for years, along with The Simpsons, and I loved it even before I understood it. But watching past episodes on DVD and reruns, along with watching the new seasons, I've come to appreciate this show for what it is. It probably has the most subtle humor of all the prime time cartoon shows, but it really is just as funny. It also has a unique charm that makes it very different from The Simpsons, South Park, and Family Guy. My favorite show will always be The Simpsons, but King of the Hill is probably right behind it. The characters are all great, Hank, Peggy, Bobby, Dale, Bill, Boomhauer, and Luann alone are fantastic, but there are several other regular characters that move the story along. The Simpsons, South Park, American Dad, and especially Family Guy have all had weak season, but King of the Hill, despite a few bad episodes, is the only prime time cartoon that I feel has consistently maintained quality throughout its existence. It makes me very sad that this show will be canceled soon, but I highly recommend this show to anyone.
