Smartorhypo Highly Overrated But Still Good
MusicChat It's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.
Humbersi The first must-see film of the year.
Smoreni Zmaj Studio that held rights for FF was facing risk to lose them because they didn't make a movie for too long. They decided to avoid that risk by making low budget movie that will never be released. It was cheaper to waste one million dollars on "false" movie than to lose FF rights. This terribly underrated gem was made and luckily it saw light of the day, at least on internet. Movie is really cheap, but it's more than satisfying for such low budget, and if you are able to accept lousy effects you will have lots of fun. I really enjoyed it.7/10
adonis98-743-186503 In this Marvel Comic adaption, four astronauts get bombarded with cosmic rays when an accident occurs. The four of them acquire special powers, and decide to form a superhero group called the Fantastic Four. They then fight their arch-enemy Dr. Doom. Just watched this film on youtube for the very first time and my god it was awful and at this point the first 2 films with Jessica Alba is the best versions of the Fantastic 4 i mean common how hard can it be to make a Fantastic Four film? Just give the rights back to Marvel, the 2015 version even though it was still an above average film for me at least it had a good film somewhere inside this whole mess but this one? It has bad acting, over the top action, cartoony villains that look like they came out of a Power Rangers episode and in my opinion the worst take ever on Dr. Doom he is stupid and over the top and instead of using his actual powers he uses a damn gun at one point for some reason and there's even a scene where the Fantastic 4 break out and he comes in and keeps talking and then he turns his head and looks at the big hole in the wall and goes like "Hmm" seriously? He tries to be like Darth Vader meets Dr. Doom but he failed on both sides. Also the fact that Sue and Reed met for the first time when she was like 13 and he was like 30 something was creepy as hell, The Thing looks awful and for some reason there's even a Batman reference. Overall this is a film that came out in 1994 and looks like it came out on 1977 and for that i'm going to give it an F
caseynicholson I watched this 1994 edition of "The Fantastic Four" last night in preparation for the new 2015 reboot. This was the first time I had ever seen this movie--a friend had burned me a copy on DVD some time ago. I knew it was going to be hokey and juvenile, and goodness knows it is just that. But all in all it's not that bad.I think that the biggest challenge that a person will have in enjoying this movie is to just get into the mood of appreciating an older movie that is goofy looking by today's standards. It doesn't help matters at all that you'll probably be watching it in a grainy standard definition format, which is always unfortunate if you've been spoiled by HD. But more important is the fact that this movie is a throwback to the days when anything "superhero" was treated as hokey. Think more along the lines of the Adam West Batman than the Tim Burton Batman films.Still, if you can get over the cheesy feel of this film and get to a point where you have an appreciation for it being a product of its time, then you may find yourself appreciating this movie. (Okay, to be honest, it feels even more dated than 1994--more along the lines of something from the late 70's/early 80's Bill Bixby Hulk era than a 1994 big screen production). The storyline tells the familiar story of the FF's origin, and I have to say that it actually did so in a way that I found to be quite enjoyable. In fact, I'm not the biggest FF fan on the planet and so I had either forgotten or never knew about one element of the characters that the film does a neat job of explaining--that their powers are extensions of their personalities. The scene where that is explained was pretty neat. That said, is this film a cheese fest? Yes. But it's an enjoyable cheese fest. I've sat through many movies with much more up to date cinematic processes that just weren't as fun as this film was. Thus my 6/10 stars. And a quick heads up--you can watch this movie on Youtube for free.
user-12235 Well, as FieCrier put it "There *are* worse movies."; but not by much, folks, not by much.If I didn't know it was a '94 movie I would have sworn that it was from the '60s.It's good to have in a collection; and if you are either bored cross-eyed or moderately stoned, watch it. If you have dinners plans with a nice bottle of a 1984 vintage, don't watch this: as it will put you off your appetite. All that being said, it is refreshing to see Corman's mind (such as it is) give us character development; which is a lot more than can be said about later comics/sci-fi fare.I just can't get myself to go higher than one rotten tomato on this one; but my consideration of fellow sentients who think it better, I give a two."Danger! Will Robinson; Danger!" "Aliens approaching."
