Reviews
Tedfoldol everything you have heard about this movie is true.
Sharkflei Your blood may run cold, but you now find yourself pinioned to the story.
Janae Milner Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
Wyatt There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Andres-Camara One of the problems with this film is that he does not know if he wants to make a journalistic film or if he uses the fact of the journalist to tell a scary movie. You spend too much time on the part of the interviews and the intrigue never begins. When it finally arrives, this very boring and also the director, does not know how to get involved. The scenes of exorcism do not have the slightest interest. They do not produce fear. They are too badly rolled. The actors are wrong. But in addition the characters do not make sense, as soon they want to hide everything, as soon as they tell everything to the journalist.Photography is bad. You can not make a horror movie, with so much light. Do not get into the story even if you want to.The scares are bad and predictable. The director does a very bad job if he does not realize that the movie does not start. It bores a lot. He does not know how to position the camera.Sure you see better movies
Fella_shibby Had seen the trailer n was looking forward to it. My curiosity n excitement doubled after i came to kno that its directed by Xavier Glens. I am surprised that after making such a brutal n atmospheric film, Frontiere(s), what made Glens create such a slow n tame film. Saw this on a rented dvd. It is a beautifully shot film. The Romanian country side was pleasant but the overall film was a disappointment. Firstly, the film was unoriginal, stale n not scary enuff for horror fans. Its more like an investigative mystery drama but predictable. U can call it poor mans Exorcism of Emily Rose. Forget the blood, nudity or sex, the story was dull, the tension was zero n the character development nada. In the trailer v get to see spiders in the crotch which was scary but the real scene in the film is meh. Also, in the trailer v get to see the needle scene which was again scary but the scene in the movie was a blink n a miss.
derbo73 A mediocre horror/mystery movie about a girl killed during an exorcism and a young journalist trying to investigate the case. I had the feeling this movie was motivated by better examples of the genre but tried too hard to imitate a certain look and atmosphere, ending in endless dialogue and driving around without anything happening. The background story is a bit convoluted and at a certain point I decided to no longer care. The ending receives an intense climax but was predictable and you don't really worry about the protagonist. The acting was ok to naive, no terrible bad acting but lifeless and boring as the whole movie. The mystery stuff has been seen on screens hundreds of times already, nothing new here, although the old buildings, nature and scenery do look great. Even the SFX were the same old stuff - black eyes, unearthly deep voice, demon makes things fly around so on.The main actress is quite young and did not convince me yet. She is good looking and I guess that's why they cast her. A secondary female role was filled in by Brittany Ashworth, who delivered a better playing, yet they all somehow had to struggle with the weak story, dilaogues and directing.I was very happy when it finally ended and the only horror I felt was the thought of having to see it again one day. There are worse movies, but in the end wasted time is wasted time.
cliometrician Ah, another exorcism movie to sink my teeth into. Actually, my vote is closer to 6 1/2. Overall, a pretty good movie. It kept my interest right to the end, even though a major incident in the conclusion was telegraphed long before, but still intrigued.Early on we see Sister Adelina undergoing an exorcism and the actress does a good job in the role of the devil's victim, both during the exorcism and in the several flashbacks that show her descent into the clutches of the demon. Sophie Cookson plays Nicole, a reporter who travels to Romania, and who is a sceptic about religion. Her performance is solid throughout, as were the jobs done by the rest of the cast, including several Romanian actors and two from Spain. All of this was based on a true story that happened in 2005.Of course several familiar tropes occur along the way that all of us recognize as de riguer for this kind of a movie: a lot of dead insects, strange sounds, hallucinations, solid black eyes, as well as the expected floating in air, among others. The production value is high for a B list movie like this, and all about it has the look of quality. Yes, I recommend it if you are an exorcism movie aficionado like me, or if you just like the horror genre. If you are only faintly interested in horror movies then you should probably give this one a pass. It is directed by Xavier Gens, who previously directed two pretty good horror/drama movies: "Frontiers" and "The Divide."
