Robin-B-Hood Trailers

For never-do-well compulsive gambler Fong, there's only one thing more fearsome than debtors at his doorstep - having to coax a crying baby. But what if the baby becomes his golden goose to fend off his debtors? Can he overcome his phobia of diapers, milk bottles, and cloying lullabies?

Leofwine_draca Jackie Chan meets THREE MEN AND A BABY is basically the plot for this madcap caper film, featuring three thieves, some generic gangster types and one very cute baby who finds himself in all manner of scrapes. It's an out-and-out comedy, a lighthearted family movie in which the focus is on the laughs rather than the stunts, but that doesn't mean it's totally without merit for action fans. As the film progresses it gets better, moving away from the jokes towards breakneck chases and fights, building up to a large scale climax that provides an emotional as well as physical kick. One of the main draws for me was the presence of Yuen Biao in this movie. Yuen, how we have missed you! Sadly, Biao doesn't bag one of the leading roles, instead playing the minor part of a cop, but he does get involved in one elaborate fight sequence. For me, he's the best thing in the movie. Cast-wise, he's accompanied by a playing-to-type Jackie (good with the baby, but the genuine stunts are few and far between and the wirework is obvious), Louis Koo (mildly funny but better in serious fare like FLASHPOINT) and a minor role for Ken Lo, playing a tattooed thug named 'Baldy'.The first half of the film contains endless comedy routines and set-ups and is a little overlong, although that's not a problem. Some of the humour doesn't translate very well to Western audiences – is putting a baby in a washing machine and turning it on really that funny? However, things pick up for a bizarre car chase, a nice routine in an apartment filled with a bunch of adversaries, and some more traditional martial arts stuff right at the end. It's not one of the all-time classic Jackie Chan films, but it's far closer to the spirit of a good-natured '80s knockabout comedy like MY LUCKY STARS than the kind of soulless, RUSH HOUR-type films Jackie makes in America.
daworldismine jackie chan has been disappointing as of late with movies like the tuxedo and them medallion, there enjoyable movies but action wise they are just not up there, they rely on wires and special effects, and even though there is a tiny bit of that here, for the most part this is classic jackie chan, the story is about three thieves who are in desperate need of some money, when they get and offer for £30 million to kidnapp a baby after some hesitation they do, and this leads to all kind of mayhem, if they haven't got people after them they are up in there necks in baby boo and nappies. the movie is very funny and kinda reminded me of the feeling of wheels on meals and my lucky stars kind of action/comedy, but the thing that surprised me most about robin-b-hood was that it was very touching and had a good heart, jackie and co start to genuinely love the kid and it's heartbreaking at the end. all that aside tho robin-b-hood delivers in the action department and there are some of the best stunts he's done since the accidental spy, and the fight scenes are brilliant too, not as good as new police story, robin-b-hood is a solid jackie chan movie that delivers everything you expect from the chan man, great stuff
Erucolindo I think the best way to sum up this film is with the simple description: 'Raising Arizona' in Cantonese. What it lacks in Coen Brothers-esquire snappy dialogue (which it really doesn't lack that much; Jackie Chan again proving to be a talented writer), it makes up for with clever, funny set pieces that any other man over 50 would probably find quite hard to pull off. You've got to admire him for that, even if you don't like his films. But, I do. So, I admire him a lot. What we've got here is your basic 'Burglars-capture-baby-and-learn-to-love-him' with martial arts and stunts to put CGI animation to shame. Jackie Chan still has it. Let's just pray that he continues to have it for a good long while to come.To sum it up, I'd rather watch this film one hundred times than most of the drivel of the equivalent 'budget' that comes out of Hollywood. Adam Sandler, eat your heart out. You're not Jackie Chan.
