Reviews
Interesteg What makes it different from others?
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Cassandra Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
drloomis666 Given that there are so few decent werewolf horror movie lately(thanks a lot Twilight)I have found myself looking for older movie that i;ve missed over the years.Found this gem on the internet.Don't let the words made for TV movie dissuade you as it almost did me.This movie was a pleasant surprise.Essentially it's a small town murder mystery with a supernatural twist.Sort of In the heat of the night meets Kolchack the night stalker.great old school cast all around. The Fugitives David Janssen is perfect as the tough skeptical small town sheriff whose just trying to figure it all out.More suspenseful than i thought it would be for a 70's TV movie.Especially toward the end.A good watch for werewolf genre fans.
Cristi_Ciopron 'Moon of the Wolf' is actually a cool, sulfurous, sharp _teleplay, marshes, bayou, malaria, TV done as B cinema, a genuine discovery, and it has the atmosphere of its plot, and not a generic Louisiana atmosphere. Peasants and gentry, Dixie feudalism, the sheriff impersonates Widmark nicely, he's a temperate loner. Dillman is mostly looking desolate. Someone wrote that there were quite a few of similar TV movies intent to look like 'Kolchak'.It's not scary, but suspenseful, intriguing; it gives the feel that the events are eerie, but entirely real, and this thanks to the many good things in this _teleplay, an intrinsically likable movie, what an awesome, unassuming chiller, far-reaching TV. There are tropes, but they are appealingly used. The cast of the _teleplay is extraordinarily enjoyable, including 'Andrew', the werewolf.
utgard14 Small town Louisiana sheriff (David Janssen) investigates a murder that may have been committed by a werewolf. I love '70s TV movies. They just seem to have been of a higher quality than the made-for-TV stuff these days. This is a nice little murder mystery that takes its time building up to introducing the werewolf element. The only way I can see you being disappointed with this one is if you come into it expecting it to be a werewolf movie from start to finish. I suggest keeping your expectations reasonable and enjoy it for what it is, not hate it for what it isn't. It has nice atmosphere, locations, and a distinct '70s style. The werewolf's identity isn't much of a mystery but the atmosphere and the great cast make up for it. Loved seeing '50s sci-fi star Barbara Rush. She was in her forties here but lovely as ever. It's a very enjoyable TV movie that should appeal to a variety of people.
OldAFSarge I just watched this movie again to see what I could remember from about 25 years ago. I remember seeing this when it first hit TV and I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed it all over again. Being from the South I didn't find it too slow, nor a weak story. However, I must admit that I like David Jansen who plays Sheriff Aaron Whitaker and Barbara Rush was always one of my favorite actresses. Ms Rush plays the high society lady that has been off to New York and has just returned to Marsh Island. Her brother Bradford Dillman plays Andrew Rodanthe, one of the remaining members of the towns oldest family. Other folks that you will remember if you are over 40 or so are Geoffrey Lewis, Royal Dano, and John Davis Chandler. All in all a decent werewolf movie for it's time. For me it was a very pleasant break from all the teenage slasher movies that have become all the rage. If you want a break from all the blood and gore and want to see a movie that you can watch with your children, but still want a little horror, then this is it. Very little blood, no nudity, and little if any language, so it is very tame by todays standards.
