Marva-nova Amazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.
just an opinion Two female reporters from a known channel break into a macabre science lab where an obsessed psychotic scientist experiments on animals to take a video for the news, and adopt a huge cute dog(something looking like between a German shepherd and a rottweiler,I don't know the exact breed) that is genetically enhanced. This dog is the scientist's own masterpiece and pride, and in the right hands is a perfect guardian, but in the wrong hands a killing machine because his mind is a bit unstable. The film doesn't take itself seriously and this is enjoyable and really funny.Especially the scientist and his audacity in order to recover his dog together with his hilarious movie villain lines, makes it a great laugh. The dog turns from cute to an intelligent strong minded character and then a killer,as he tests and unfolds his powers and appetites, but except from a cat that it swallows whole most of the killings feel righteous from a certain comedy perspective.A bit of blood and gore is there so its not for kids but it is presented in a satirical comical way.All the animals in the movie deserve an Oscar.Especially the main dog character.I'm missing such movies today. No fake seriousness and ridiculous retarded affectation that shows from a mile, and no retarded educational conclusions for the viewers. The bad guys get all mauled, most of the good guys survive and cops sneak to drink chocolate from peoples' blenders in their kitchens while guarding the house without asking permission.Nowadays everything has to be serious...and stupid.Well done, but still not for kids.
Lee Eisenberg "Man's Best Friend", about a genetically altered dog that kills any perceived threat, is pretty much what you'd expect. Ally Sheedy really chews the scenery as the reporter investigating cruelty to animals and inadvertently releasing the bloodthirsty pooch. But no matter, the movie still is pretty fun to watch, with the full understanding that it's basically a totally dumb flick. Lance Henriksen, playing the scientist who created the murderous hound, lets his face do the acting.Like I said, it's mostly just a fun movie to watch. Definitely nothing special about it. Although I should admit that I'd never heard of a Tibetan mastiff until I read a description of the movie.
Majid-Hamid i couldn't say more...this is a good horror movie actually, but i wonder why this movie is only given a 4.6 stars out of 10, why?? actually it deserves more than 6! Come on...this is a B movie, what more we can aspect?? The acting is quite good, especially Lance Henriksen. He is the only reason why i bought this movie. Ally Sheedy is not that good... but i think she's still OK in this movie. Not bad after all. The best part of this movie is The scene where the dog swallowed that little kitten. It looks very scary and funny a little bit. I really love this movie! So, i guess i'm the only one who's giving this a 10 out of 10 stars isn't it?? People might wonder why i give this 10 right?? I'll tell you why.. i'm just giving this movie a chance..cause this movie deserves higher rating than 4.6, maybe 6 and above to me. People are voting high ratings for the matrix and batman the dark night which i think was very very bad and stupid! Man's Best Friend is far much much more better than those! Give this movie a chance..plizzz....10/10**
ltlacey Sometimes, a movie is so bad it's good. Anaconda, Lake Placid, and Man's Best Friend. Go figure. There was a book out eons ago that I read with the same title, and this story seems to be loosely based on the book. What we have is a mixed breed (sorry) between Cujo, Electric Dreams, and Short Circuit; the last 2 dealing with Sheedy's character. She seems to be repeating her performance in Short Circuit. Anyway, she's a reporter and she and her camera woman get into a secret lab to film the atrocities done against the animals inside. They come across Max, who is the most loving, and large, dog ever, and since he's smarter than anyone else (probably negotiated for more pay too since his performance was outstanding) he hops a ride with the girls and escapes from the evil clutches of the ever-popular mad scientist. Max then goes to live with Lori, but a boyfriend gets in the way. You see, Max loves Lori, and will do anything to stay with her. Of course we get to see Max in action, knowing what a brake line is, and of course the first time he sees Heidi. Though the music playing for any scene with Heidi (Puppy Love) was about as corny as it gets, the scene where Max closed the bedroom door, as Heidi tries to hide under a pillow, is pure Cary Grant. And then, of course, we have the rape of Heidi. How Heidi gets pregnant, since we do not think that she's in heat, plus the fact for some scenes it's kind of obvious that Max does not have all his "boy" parts, remains a mystery, but we let it go. We're all focused entirely on Max, the real star of this movie, and one of the best performances by a canine I have ever seen. Shoot. One of the best performances of a lot of human actors out there now. Try and find this one at your local movie rental place, or on Netflix. Well worth the watch.
