Kronk's New Groove Trailers

Kronk, now chef and Head Delivery Boy of Mudka's Meat Hut, is fretting over the upcoming visit of his father. Kronk's father always disapproved of young Kronk's culinary interests and wished that Kronk instead would settle down with a wife and a large house on a hill.

Reviews
Melanie Bouvet The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
Darin One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
Delight Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
EnemyPavement A while back I rewatched this movie with a friend more or less as a joke. But wile watching, I realized...It's not that bad.In fact, It's pretty good. Granted, it's not a great film but considering it's a straight-to-video sequel that no one asked for, they actually seemed to make it work. The movie takes a look at the life of the original film's comic relief character Kronk. A character who, originally, was nothing more than a goofy ripped guy who could cook and talk to squirrels. But in this film, they actually gave Kronk the depth he deserved. It's also surprisingly funny. the work itself is probably a 5 or a 6.But then I took into consideration the following:It seems as though Disney actually hired competent writers and animators to make a cheap sequel this time around. It feels like the writers truly cared about the first film and the work they were doing. They stayed within the thematic and tonal confines of the first film while also keeping consistent with the same brand of humor. This film was a labor of love. And though it's far from perfect, they managed to make a decent film in a low budget studio that is known only for continually producing DVDs of crappy sequels that do nothing except tarnish the rep of the films they're spun from.So I give it 10 stars for being the best Straight-to-video sequel out there.
ed_two_o_nine What we have here the standard Disney direct to DVD sequel, where I would expect cots are cut in all areas resulting in an okay animated movie that falls well short of the original. That is not to say that this is a terrible movie it is just that it is a very mediocre movie full of the preachy messages intended to show children the virtues of friendship and being nice to one another and unless done subtly (which it is not here) can quickly become grating for adults. The film has a very thin plot line with Kronk trying to win the approval of his father, and ending up finding the true meaning of wealth and success. This has it's comedy moments but is really nor enough to carry a full length film.
cashflow2 I was really excited when I saw the commercials for this direct to Disney DVD movie. Because I loved Emperor's New Groove so much, I had to go out and get this one. As with all sequels of a well crafted original story - Kronk had my expectations set to a very high level. It's hard to judge this movie without comparing it to the original and that's why I don't think it's possible to write a fair review about it. First of all, it did hold my attention the whole way through - the story moved right along and didn't seem to drag at all. Funny at several different points and rehashing some of the jokes from the first movie but not doing it to the point that it becomes irritating. It starts out in a similar style to the original, a day in Kronks life where everything seems to have blown up in Kronk's world and has spun out of control. Then we watch the events that have already unfolded leading us back to the point in the opening scene in the movie. There were some parts in it that were extremely entertaining and basically made the movie for me. One of these is the music "video" in the middle of the movie between Kronk and his love interest Birdwell. It was so funny - I laughed out loud. It's set to the song "Let's Groove" by Earth Wind and Fire and features musical sight gags from Ghost, Pulp Fiction, Titanic, the Micheal Jackson "Thriller" video, and Saturday Night Fever to name a few. A well done sequence in my opinion. There were other elements of the story that could have used more attention from the directors. First off, Kuzco, Pacha and Yzma were shoehorned into the story. Granted the story is told from Kronk's perspective but the major characters from the first movie have basically bit parts in this one. Because of this, Kronk basically "goes it alone" getting himself into the mess he's in and having only himself (and his shoulder angel and devil - basically himself too) to get him out of it.The main theme of it all is that Kronk's happiness hinges on his father's approval. At the end of the film Kronk realizes that he's not a failure because he has friends (straight out of It's a Wonderful Life) but it's not complete happiness until his Papi gives him the "thumbs up" - is that a good message or a bad message for kids? I'll let you come to your own conclusion on that one.All in all, it was time well spent getting to visit with Kronk and his pals again but it's a sequel and it's strong enough to stand on it's own only as a sequel. If it was an original film with no back-story to fall back on, it would be a weaker attempt at entertainment. 7/10 stars
Alias 90 I ordered Kronks New Groove - Highly recommended. When I ordered this DVD I had no expectations, I had no idea what the movie was going to be like, I trusted my instincts and thought it was going to be good, it was not good, it was amazing.Emperors new groove 1 was a smash hit for Disney, it was fresh, original and funny. Now what I find strange is why they didn't release Kronks New Groove in the cinema because it was just as good as the first movie. There is a lovely love interest for Kronk that really spurs much more humor in the movie. The Movie starts off a bit slow and gradually builds up to a spectacular ending. One of Disneys finest animated classics. Also includes a rather funny 'How to cook a movie' featured, and 2 new games.
