A Major Disappointment

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Watching this movie was no big deal until 12 minutes in. A 4 minute bar scene with a haunting song in the back round drew me in (all of me, I'm a hopeless romantic). The supple effects of a discussion in an apartment to appearing in the bar - and the song.. excellent.. Very worthy of anyones attention.. In the beginning the forward and back time line is trying, but as the movie plays out all this comes clear. I can see how this started as a play, much of the intake is dialog, but then the creativity with the sound mixing/effects and different types of filming varieties start to set this film apart. This is a movie that does what they set out to do, entertaining and fulfilling. The story has plenty and the production has more than plenty.. I have no idea why the rating isn't 8.5 here. I'm glad I DVR'ed it, and have watched the bar scene over and over.

A funny, sexy black comedy. Comedy you say when Zelda is killed? Aagh but is she? The film has many layers, its fast paced and ultimately doesn't disappoint. Zelda controls the film - both on & off screen, its her wild ride, wrapping males & females around her little finger... I recently watched a film called Weirdsville - Zelda too has that same comedic quirkiness - and the cast also seem to have a ball with the subject matter - Reminded me a little of Kill Bill without the violence. Doubt you'd be disappointed - a great film to watch with friends (males & females of course)....

I love this film. It's got an indie-edge and dark subject matter not for the faint of heart. But, in my opinion, what makes this movie so great is that it's actually a comedy. I was riveted the first time I watched it to the story and characters, but as I watched it a second time to show it to a friend I found so much more. The film is filled with details and dialog you don't notice on the first sitting making it even more pleasurable. Sure it's not a movie for everybody, but for those looking for something unique, well made, and something to watch with friends, this is the film for you. I equate it to the old cult midnight movies of the 70s. If that phenomena was still in style this film would be playing at the theaters with college kids lined up around the block.

It has come to my attention that multiple Sudbury critics gave Killing Zelda Sparks a negative review. Please disregard them. I eagerly waited to see this movie, and the other day, I was lucky enough to catch it on TV. Although I must admit, since I was in this movie, I started watching it with optimism. However, the scene with me was over pretty quickly and I eagerly watched the rest of the movie, to see if the critics were correct. I am happy to say, they weren't. The characters were likable, and were played really well. Of course, having Colm Feore in a movie is always a bonus, but the rest of the cast did a terrific job. As for the plot... Without giving any spoilers, I will say this, I expected this movie to be decent, but I was pleasantly surprised. The plot was clever, elaborate and full of twists. And the film's artistic style was unique without being pretentious. I had a blast watching this movie, and sincerely wish they'd release it on DVD. If you get a chance to see this film, don't pass it up. It's much better than most of the stuff released in theaters these days.
