thefox477 This movie is the way movies should be made. No frills, no full- of- himself muscly lead actor, no mind-numbing extended CGI sequences where it is obvious all the money in the budget went to special effects. All this movie did to be great was to instill a fear in us of a big white rogue shark and make you feel like you were safe on land or on a boat until you aren't. Yes. This movie puts you right into the experience. The characters are all so varied and present and some you like, some you don't like, some you kind of like. And then when the movie starts heading toward the midpoint and toward the climax, when those barrels start flinging off the ship and almost hits one of our guys in the head, i actually screamed. In fact, there were many times that this movie made me cry aloud out of actual fear. This movie is the actual reason I will never go swimming in the ocean. It is the mark of a good film to have this much of an impact on audience. 10/10 Well done, Mr. Spielberg, never change.

tdrish Jaws always had his mouth open, why didn't they just toss a live grenade in his mouth, instead of torquing around with this bully fish? Aside from that thought, this is the real deal, folks. Drama, suspense, and horror all melded into one. Stevens best movie, thanks, Steven. You are forgiven for everything you made past 1989 until now!

russellholmes Jaws was the first film to do many things- the first 100 million grosser, the first blockbuster, the film that made Steven Spielberg into a household name. This film has entered pop culture lexicon and is just about a great movie that everyone has at least heard of. The fine thing about Jaws is that the shark isn't really the villain- the bureaucracies of the small town, the mayor- the human elements are the true villainous element which Speilberg so adroitly makes us ponder about, at least in the first half. Of course there is a shark and the chase by three men is the highlight filled with great monologues and fantastic sequences. If you haven't yet (shockingly) please see Jaws.

MichaelMRamey I was always a fan of Steven Spielberg, but I never considered him the king of suspense, until recently when I went on a Spielberg Marathon. Nearly everyone of his films had me on the edge of my set with this being one of the main features.It still holds up today even with the terrible mechanical shark because it is masterfully hidden throughout the film creating a more sinister villain. Everyone in the film pulls out a tremendous performance and let's not forget that without this film we don't have the Summer blockbuster as we know it.
