In order to save his dying father, young stunt cyclist Johnny Blaze sells his soul to Mephistopheles and sadly parts from the pure-hearted Roxanne Simpson, the love of his life. Years later, Johnny's path crosses again with Roxanne, now a go-getting reporter, and also with Mephistopheles, who offers to release Johnny's soul if Johnny becomes the fabled, fiery 'Ghost Rider'.

Reviews
Infamousta brilliant actors, brilliant editing
MoPoshy Absolutely brilliant
Jenna Walter The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Roxie The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
therealsushikiller Ghost Rider is the second Marvel Movie written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, after Daredevil (2003). This movie is just awesome! My favorite actor plays my favorite hero! The special effects are what I expected for the movie! The story tries to respect well the comics (Johnny Blaze signs a pact with the Devil to heal his father and his girlfriend is Roxanne Simpson), but takes liberties (Johnny Blaze doesn't live with Crash Simpson, but his real father Barron Blaze, not in New York, but in a circus, then he owns a house with a garage in a city in Texas. The only bad points I have is Blackheart, played by Wes Bentley. In the comics, he's a demon, but he looks like an animal, he's blue, he's got a tail, he's got red eyes, no mouth (but he talks), dreadlocks (blue). I don't know why everyone hates this movie. It was released in the period when the Marvel movies like Daredevil, Hulk, the Punisher and Elektra were bashed (Elektra deserved it). If you haven't seen the movie, own it on DVD or Blu-Ray and watch it!!!
Prismark10 The problem with Ghost Rider is that the film never really catches fire however the climax of the film does have a comic book ending when Johnny Blaze fights the bad guy.Stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze does a deal with the devil when his father has terminal cancer. He signs a contract with Mephistopheles to give his soul for the health of his father. Johnny learns the hard way that the devil has a few tunes up his sleeve. Although his father is cured of cancer he dies in a stunt accident.Johnny leaves the stunt show and his girlfriend Roxanne. He knows deep down the devil will come calling for him one day to fulfil his contract. Johnny goes on to becomes a famous stunt cyclist who has survived many scrapes, I think Johnny knows why. His ex-girlfriend has become a TV reporter send down to cover his latest daredevil stunt.However Mephistopheles steps in who wants him to slay his evil son Blackheart and in doing so he will be released from his contract. Johnny Blaze becomes the Ghost Rider and his motorbike goes like a bat out of hell.The flaming visuals are cool, Cage excels as the Ghost Rider who acts more like a vigilante saving good people from bad. Its just the the plot is humdrum with supporting characters being wasted. Eva Mendes is there to look pretty. Peter Fonda is just there to look cool. Sam Elliot is there for his moustache and that horse ride alongside with Cage before he bizarrely bails out of.Wes Bentley does not bring much as Blackheart apart from a generic son of a devil act.Its an adaptation of a Marvel Comic which Marvel Films might have been able to do something more substantial with if they had made the film rather than just be associated with it like The X Men movies. Cage is hampered as Blaze with a distracting wig although he tries to make his character playful but its really an average time-waster.
soupboy-92404 Seems to me the credit for the song "Ghost Riders In The Sky" is wrong! Can look it up anytime, but was initially performed/recorded by a group called 'The Outlaws'! One can merely go to YouTube, and check--- is the same song. Unless the band changed their name, is the wrong credit. I 'won' free tickets for their concert here in MN in November, and THAT is one of their feature songs from their earlier days. Was not 'totally' sure on the title, but once I checked via You Tube---was quite certain. The 'credit' listed via IMDb going to 'SpiderBait' is doubtful. Again...unless 'Outlaws' changed their name for the movie soundtrack, IMDb has it wrong. Time to get it right! soupboy54-92404
Adam Peters (40%) One of those movies in which the makers spent ten times more time and effort in one single effect sequence than the entire script, as this has some of the very worst lines of dialogue in any film outside of the Star wars prequels. Nic Cage really earned his pay cheque here not through his performance but through his epic level of fitness, there's hardly an ounce of lard on him, which again doesn't really add anything to this hollow, somewhat silly film. It's best to think of this more as a big budget B- movie than the mass of other stronger Marvel movies. This isn't anything to really shout about, though I largely found it to be harmless fun and as such I highly doubt this is anywhere near to being the worst comic book effort.
