Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
dawnrstevens Great movie. Am watching with my children and am truly disappointed that Disney would approve the Nickolas Cage/Diane Krueger romantic pairing given the 12 year age difference. Justin Bartha would have been more appropriate, yet still not necessary . So tired of seeing this dynamic, especially when there is no chemistry whatsoever. Nothing wrong with an age gap, true love can be found irrespective of age difference, but this movie holds its own with the historical context and caper dynamic. The romance adder is wrote.
2karl- With Director:Jon Turteltaub who has done the other national treasure has also done the while you were sleeping and sorcerers apprentice does a fine job here in a action thriller that he is more capable of Nicolas Cage .is Benjamin Franklin Gates listening to his grandfather from his childhood Christopher plummer character has a cameo here inspires a young gates to be a puzzle seeker to find clue and look for conspiracies in history a great cast with his sidekick Justin bartha character following around as Riley chasing clue and doing the hi tech stuff with Sean bean character Ian Howe trying to follow his clue from finding a ship with clues in the ice to and underground cavern under a church its quiet the action packed film I saw in the cinema with support roles from Jon Voight as Patrick keeping the police off his soon with Harvey keitel as detective saduskyA historian races to find the legendary Templar Treasure before a team of mercenaries Benjamin Franklin Gates descends from a family of treasure-seekers who've all hunted for the same thing: a war chest hidden by the Founding Fathers after the Revolutionary War. Ben's close to discovering its whereabouts, as is his competition, to reveal The greatest adventure history has ever revealed with history and museums to plunder it's a high stakes at best so with a big Budget:$100,000,000 (estimated) it Grossed$173,005,002hunters pick up a female ally along the way as they try to beat a rich bad man at finding the greatest cache of treasure of all time. Nicolas Cage gives an effortlessly engaging lead performance. His male and female sidekicks (Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha) play off him quite well. The main villain (Sean Bean) is a more low-key bad guy than we tend to see in movies these days... he doesn't go on and on ranting and raving and screaming to prove how bad he is... he just proves it quite matter-of-factly through his actions. Jon Voigt and Harvey Keitel do alright in a couple of minor roles that don't do much for their acting cred but probably gave their bank accounts a boost... . I was also pleasantly surprised that there were less dumb action stunts than I expected. The two major stunt scenes in the film (a car chase and a stairway cave-in) were pretty exciting... the movie wisely concentrates more on plot and dialogue from the producer of the pirates of the Caribbean Jerry brucheimer comes a thrilling edge of your seat adventure puzzle story like DA vinci code staring nick cage and abundance of special effects and an outstanding supporting cast as an obsessed treasure hunter tries find and decipher ancient riddles left behind that will lead to greatest treasures ever known by man in history and he is dogged by ruthless criminals who wont leave him alone and needs it himself heart pounding chase across Washington dc from the library to the George Washington memorial to the bell tower of independence to the declaration of the American society with close calls make the stakes even higher in a crime caper and one of Disney's exciting treasure hunts ever experienced I hope you enjoyed my review its just under 2hr 10mins
deeannratcliff I want to give this film a 10 for my pure love of Nic Cage but I know it's not perfect but to me it's pretty darn close! Many out there point out some minute details but to me unless you are a historian you won't notice and it's a movie meant to entertain and it does, especially if you love adventure and especially adventure with a treasure hunt! It's like the Indiana movies but with a more down to earth approach. It may still be out there in some minds but it's not as much fantasy, more of government conspiracy which I love, it's fantasy based on possible realities, and no one does that better than Nicolas Cage! I know he has made some bad choices in some of his films but when he's in the right role he's the best in my opinion. I only hope to see him do more roles like National Treasure and "Knowing" and "Left Behind"(not my favorite ) but when he does real, like "Leaving Las Vegas" and "Joe" he is at his best! Sorry, I digress because I just love him but if you love adventure flicks especially a treasure hunt this is the best, right up there with Indy!
dnort25 Probably the greatest movie I've ever seen. The acting is amazing, the love story is impeccable, the basis of the story is very intriguing and enjoyable. The fact that two guys and a van could sneak into the national archives and steal the Declaration of Independence with no issues made me feel very encouraged to do great things. I own this movie and I have watched it maybe 35 times. My cousin once told me it was an obsession and that I was wasting too much data by watching it in the car on repeat while driving from Philly to Florida, but he is just lost. Diane Kruger's fake American accent is so incredible that I have hired her speech director to help me perfect my British, Russian, and Swahili accents. In conclusion, this movie has been the brightest part of my life and Nicholas cage is the most beautiful person and actor that I have ever seen. He is even phenomenal in the incredible movie Ghost Rider. Please watch this movie if you want to fall in love for the first time in your life like I did.
