Ed Gein Trailers

The true story of Edward Gein, the farmer whose horrific crimes inspired Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence of the Lambs. This is the first film to Gein's tormented upbringing, his adored but domineering mother, and the 1957 arrest uncovered the most bizarre series of murders America has ever seen

Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
daworldismine ed gein is considered as americas first serial killer, and his story is a dark and creepy one, while most serial killer biopics want to be something else, or twist facts, this movie sticks very close to the facts to a point I've only ever seen in two other movies '2007's zodiac' and '2007's rise of the footsoldier'. the movie is never really gory, but you do see all the macabre and sick things ed gein did, including a amazingly recreated hanging gutted body at the end of the movie, having seen the original crime scene photo's i can see they got it spot on. having read the brilliant book on gein 'deviant', this movie in many ways feels like a movie based on that book, and to be honest it probably was. some people will notice simelarities to other horror movies like 'the Texas chainsaw massacre' 'psycho' and 'silence of the lambs' and thats because all three of them were inspired by gein, but in my opinion the true story is the most shocking of all, steve railsback gives a brilliant performance as ed gein, and at times is earily convincing. its very well made and is creepy from the outset, and gein's skin suit is enough to disturb anybody. ed gein is a great movie, and an accurate true story, and i highly recommend
Michael_Elliott Ed Gein (2000) * (out of 4) Steve Railsback plays the infamous Ed Gein, the man who killed woman so that he could wear their skin, eat them and so on. I've seen a lot of movies based on Gein's life (Deranged) and a lot of films influenced by his story (Psycho, Texas Chainsaw) but this here is without a doubt the worst of the worst. I'm really not sure where to start but I guess I'll go with the screenplay, which seems to think it's a good idea for a horror film to go the first forty-minutes without a drop of gore or violence. When Gein finally gets on his murdering spree nothing is shown but instead we get countless dialogue scenes that are as boring as I'm sure Gein was in real life. Railsback gives a so-so performance, which means he tries hard to get Gein down right but he's just not good enough of an actor to pull it off. Go rent Deranged instead.
jtyroler Ed Gein was the inspiration for many fictional serial killers (Norman Bates, Leatherface, and Buffalo Bill), Gein technically wasn't a serial killer (he's only known for killing 2 women, although he probably killed his brother Henry). He was, however, a pretty sick individual and that's the real focus of the this film. He was better known for grave digging, cannibalism, and an odd assortment of body parts, including "clothing" that Ed was believed to wear at times. This is what is shown in ED GEIN. This seems to be a very well researched film and isn't some sensationalized piece of fiction - more of a docudrama. Gein was found to be not guilty by reason of insanity, and this film definitely shows why he was considered insane.
chard5588 I was just wondering if the title of this movie came from the Slayer song "Dead Skin Mask" which is about Ed Gein. The lyrics at one point go something like: "A pleasant fragrance In TheLight Of The Moon. Dance with the dead in my dreams. Listen to the hallowed screams. The dead have taken my soul. Temptation, lost all control."I would think the title could have most definitely come from the song, seeing as it was recorded in 1991, and the movie wasn't put out until 2000. The song is actually mentioned in the details of the movie on IMDb, and I would recommend that everyone check it out. The band is great, and the song is amazing as well.
