Two parallel tales of redemption, a century apart. In the New York storyline, Edge hunts for Angela's gold to pay back a debt, and gradually grows closer to her. In the Macedonian story, the brothers end up fighting for opposite sides of a revolution, with the religious Elijah taking up sides with the Ottoman sultan and gunslinger Luke joining "the Teacher" , a Macedonian rebel.

Reviews
SparkMore n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
Jenna Walter The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Ava-Grace Willis Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
lytwkr This film is SO much more than story line(s) and seeming non sequiturs which gradually flow together. It is like a 15 course multi-sensory feast of foods from strange lands, some of which taste surprisingly familiar. You have to be willing to open to the experiences Manchevski offers here, and that openness provides entry to an extraordinary examinaion of life & death - all wrapped in breathtaking cinematography and liquified timelines. If you're looking for a snack, skip this one. But if you're really hungry for something provocative that relentlessly insists on savoring, not sampling - check it out. You'll think about it and talk about it, and remember it.
fatb-1 This could have been a great movie but it was long and confusing. It started as a strange modern-day drama, then moved to the old west and kept going back and forth and at times it even had both at the same time. The acting was good but the story execution was poor. It was very violent but the actors looked good. There were beautiful sets and scenery as well as interesting costumes. There was some old lady nudity, a little strange but, it was not in a sexual situation so I guess it was OK, I didn't really see the point. There was female nudity but I was very let down when there was no Fiennes or Wenham butts. I think that this was a wonderful idea but not viewer-friendly. I would say if you are bored, check it out for an interesting genre but if you have another movie, I would bet my money on watching something else.
vegasite Eventually disappointed and confused by this flick, I have to give credit for the wonderful photography and a few good performances, particularly Adrian Lester. The violent scenes seemed an homage to "The Wild Bunch" and the music was quite good. This back and forward telling of the story spoiled the fluidity , confused things and trivialized the integrity of the story that wavered at the whim of the story teller.I have to ask WHY this woman had spent her life in poverty while hiding a kabillion dollars in gold in. . . .And why did the brothers have such animosity toward one another?Yikes!I admit, I now would like to see more of the director's work.
narsilia "Dust" is an awesome film. It's common for an art house film to have a theme, but rarely an identifiable moral. This one has both. We are convinced that we like not one but two bad guys - even when they show no redeemable qualities. The dual stories are very even-handed and well-paced. And the scatter-shoot style (e.g. Pulp Fiction) actually drives half the plot. I can only imagine the editing headaches... and the screenplay outline! It's fascinating to watch on all levels.I have been thinking about this movie all day as well (Where DO our voices go when we are no more?...) I'm glad that it's readily available in the States - can't wait to buy a copy.
