Aneesa Wardle
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Asad Almond
A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
Brennan Camacho
Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.
Madilyn
Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

I gave this a high score if for no other reason than it was a decent job of giving the essence of the first book. However, you would need to do a three hour movie to actually tell the story well, (still leaving out about half, and that isn't going to happen. These dragon lance books are some of the most well written in the DnD world. However, these books would seam dated to the new fan of DnD, where you expect super strong characters with tons of magic. Many a dungeon master used ideas and themes from this series to create there own world, it is a shame there cannot be a Lord of the Rings big budget backing of the Dragon Lance Series. Having said that, I'll take what I can get from those nice people who are trying.

First off I would like to say that I absolutely love Tracy Hickman and Margret Weis and all of their books. The Dragonlance series were wonderfully written. The animation movie on the other hand was not so wonderfully done. There are three major problems for me about this movie.1.) The animation was horrible! They tried to add CG mixed with the animation but it failed. The CG looked like something that came from the '80s. It was rough...so rough. The animation itself was bad. As an animator myself I noticed extremely bad animation movement. It almost looked liked like some homemade Flash animation from a kid All I can say is rough.2.) The voice acting sounded like something from a B-rated movie. The voice acting sounded over done. Because the voices were so bad it just made the movie so annoying for me. I have to say though Keifer Sutherland is a great actor, so he did an OK job.3.) Last of all the movie was to dumbed down in atmosphere. What I mean is is that the books have a dark adventure feeling to it. The movie is filled with up beat music and happiness. I don't know it just felt so wrong to me.I hope someone makes another movie. I also hope it is live action and that someone makes it like what Peter Jackson did to The Lord of the Rings.

this movie is a rip off of the lord of the rings story line just made worse. the 3D animation is like n64 graphics put right in a movie! how much did this movie gross 5 bucks! the only thing that was good was the 2D animation but other than that its a sad sad movie. Just don't give this movie a chance its dumb and you know it.its so much better to just watch lord of the rings.thank God this movie doesn't have sequels.or does it.anyway they could have put more effort into a better movie. bottom line pick another film to watch! little kids might like it but I cant see older viewers enjoying it at all.well there are always going to be bad movies out there just avoid them when possible.

This animated movie is a horrible insult to the legacy and legend that is the Dragonlance Chronicles and the saga that Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman built up.Well, I will start off with the few good parts that are to be said about this atrocity.First, it was nice to finally, finally see something from the Dragonlance world make it into movie-form, despite it being animated form. It has been long overdue, and it definitely need to be paid homage with something in the motion picture industry or the animated industry. (However, this particular outcome was not the one to do it justice.) Secondly, the drawing style used for the cartoon (for all except the draconians) was really cool. Seeing that brought me straight back to when I was a kid and sitting in front of the TV in the mornings, watching cartoons. There was that certain nostalgic 80's cartoon-touch to the style used here. And of course the voice acting. It was nice to see that they had actually managed to acquire some famous people to put voices to some of the heroes.Having said that, it is time to move on to the bad stuff. And trust me, there is a lot of bad stuff here.Let's start off with the story itself. It is a vague resemblance of the story found in the book. There are so many important and crucial things missing in the animation that it was unbearable and it made the entire story cripple and halting. And then there were the draconians. What went wrong here? What were the people making this project thinking? "Yeah, we will put this really lousy CGI animation into the ordinary cartoon style animation. Yeah, that will work so well." (BUZZER SOUND HERE) No, no, no! It was a horrible eyesore to look at the draconians. They looked like something my 7-month old son would draw up and then given life through a C64 animating processor. It was so bad!All the heroes in the story came off as shallow shelves of themselves. They had nowhere any depth resembling what is portrayed in the book. Each hero is just superficially presented and put into the story for what seems like a publicity stunt.I had such high hopes for this when I initially heard about the project was in the makings. And when I picked up the DVD, I was enticed by the beautiful cover art. So I rushed home and popped it in the player, and was anxiously awaiting for it to start. But only few minutes into the ordeal, I was yanking out hairs and thinking "this had to be wrong. Something went horribly, horribly wrong somewhere along the line!". I was left with a scar on my soul, they had done so much damage to Weis and Hickman's work, it was irrevocable. Now, I am sure that newcomers to the D&D genre and the Dragonlance campaign might actually find this animation good enough, if they can get past the badly-animated draconians. But for us who grew up with the Dragonlance Chronicles and Dragonlance Legends, this is an insult of grand magnitude. If you are a fan of Hickman and Tracy's work, stay well clear of this animated attempt at fleshing out Caramon, Raistlin, Tika, Riverwind, Goldmoon, Tasslehoff, Tanis, Sturm and Flint.
