Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
Btexxamar I like Black Panther, but I didn't like this movie.
Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
elsiagoddess I can remember the little cryptkeeper dude from growing up but last summer I binged watched through this entire series and OMG was it gooood! I didn't even know it was HBO?Totally forgot how many memorable episodes there were and how many cool stars from back in the 90s showed up. Like Demi Moore looking super-young or Arnold Schwarzenegger directing?!!But the best part is of course the little cryptkeeper man talking before and after the episode. He's so cheezey but funny! Like you wish he was your pet or something. I don't know. But you HAVE to watch this show if you like HORROR at all!
Viviane G. Martin I was looking for some sort of a modern version of "The Twilight Zone," a show that I enjoy so much but lasted only five seasons.I watched all the episodes from the 1st season of Tales from the Crypt and just the few first ones of the second, until I had it.There always HAS TO BE a bunch of scenes with incredibly disturbing things involving blood.I really had it when they started showing real gruesome stuff like mutilated people alive, cutting off fingers, killing another person by a huge ax-like thing, a huge knife and watching tons of blood come out of the killed individual. And then, what really got to me is how infantile it got sometimes. Like a voodoo-cursed person who gets killed over and over and doesn't die. Until it gets boring and predictable, and annoying as well, to the point of saying "I've had enough of this crap, I am watching something else."I think this show is 100% suitable for people who enjoy disturbing scenes, gory stuff, have really poor taste and get instant gratification through graphic violence. BTW they do this to animals too, in some episodes. The plots are not so bad though, and the actors in them are top-notch actors, the kind you see in Hollywood-based millionaire-budget films. So the casts are okay, and so are the plots. It's just the incredibly bad taste in showing all that blood, and the tasteless disgusting scenes that make you want to vomit if you are a normal person, what ruins it for me.I don't recommend this show to sane people who like to watch non-disturbing shows. This one is VERY disturbing. So, disturbed people (and this is an euphemism), go ahead and enjoy this bloody, wacky, tasteless show, and keep rating it high, to prove there are still so many people in the world with a twisted mind who enjoy seeing others suffer horribly!
John Doe This is a very good scary series for people that are into shows like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, except for an older audience. Tales from the Crypt originally aired from June 10, 1989 to July 19, 1996 and is based off the classic comic book series from the 1950's. The main host of the series is The Crypt Keeper who is voiced by John Kassir. He brings a comical tone to the otherwise bloody and dark tone of the gruesome episodes. The episodes are bloody, violent and not for the faint of heart, but not to the point of making one sick however. The series lasted for ninety three episodes total. The episodes are available on DVD in various countries however. I love this series and think it is clever and well made, with faithful adaptations from the comics and voice acting from John Kassir too. This is a must own TV series for your horror collection.I give it an 10/10
popcultrna This was definitely a show not to be taken seriously...but therein lies the key to great TV entertainment. Anthology series, by definition, can be very fun and addicting because they don't require the viewer to be well versed in some complex arching storyline. Each episode is stand-alone, and with this series in particular the 30 minute time frame flies right by...leading you to watch another! About the time, yes, some episodes feel as though they could have benefited from additional time to contain all of the complex twists and turns. Then again, that is also why it is so much fun! Not time consuming.Horror fans (especially), but also fans of comedy, or just plain old fashioned (sometimes simple minded even cheesy) storytelling will get a kick out of this series. And the Cryptkeeper? Pop culture icon, with all of those puns! Ever been to Spencer's gifts...remember the lifesized Cryptkeeper animatronic figure they sold for awhile. What other TV shows inspires such worship! If you're familiar with the series and think you would like to revisit it...you will not be disappointed (the DVD's are priced low!). If by chance you've never seen it, check it out...it's a blast. Not even in a category with other shows other than maybe The Twilight Zone, but also uniquely different!
