Matylda Swan It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
Delight Yes, absolutely, there is fun to be had, as well as many, many things to go boom, all amid an atmospheric urban jungle.
Dave After seeing that the viewing figures were high and that it had won a lot of awards, I was expecting this to be one of the better sitcoms. However, I didn't laugh once during the first episode. I was very disappointed at how old-fashioned, bland and dull it is - so I didn't watch any more.I watch a lot of sitcoms and have seen many that are much better than this.
Parker Lewis Everybody loves Raymond was like a safe pair of hands, a safe comedy that wasn't politically incorrect really, and it made one smile. All credit to Ray Romano for being a successful comedian with this sitcom. One brief scene stood out...where Debra expressed interest in taking the family on a holiday to Vietnam. Cue Ray who hummed the Ride of the Valkyries, which many will know is the main theme (I guess) from Apocalypse Now, and the audience had to laugh I guess. I guess the USA was still reeling from "Vietnam" even after more than two decades. If this episode was shown now, I wonder how many of the current young generation would laugh or feel bewilderment at Ray's Ride of the Valkyries?
videorama-759-859391 I love comedies that are consistently funny, many times over, where the laughs don't all necessarily come from script, but from situation and timing. Other examples are The Cosby Show, Family Ties, and The King Of Queens. Now Ray Romano may, not be the best actor in the world, but he's acting comedic timing, in playing this kind of layabout hunky sports columnist writer, Ray, ha ha, is dynamite. His folks are played by two superb actors, who gave such great performances, both who've sadly passed away, one most recently (another sad day in Hollywood). I love household comedies, and this is just another household, I'd loved to be part of. ELR has a high ratio laughs level, and for people to say this is crap, honestly, this has left me dumbstruck. Ray's older, less fortunate, and big cop brother, Robert (Brad Garrett) too has wonderful comic timing, with great character to boot. He never slips up, where in stand up, he's bloody fun. I know too, the kids go very neglected here, with not much time on the acting field, but this is the right decision, on part of the writers, as this would take away, the hours of laughs, or magic within the other characters. ELR is one of the best comedies of the last twenty years, where disregard, totally the bad and unfair criticisms. Wonderful frickin' show, and honestly, how could you hate Raymond?
Stillare The Best Series Of All Times!!! These two moths I've been watching Everybody Loves Raymond were the best months of my entire life. I never thought that there would be a TV serial that I would be able to create a bond with. However these people became my family and what shocked me is that yesterday I saw the final episode and I realized that I know almost everything about them, even their house decorations! I know that I was able to create this kind of bond with them because that kind of family relations were nowhere in my life and I realized that I was desperate to get these feelings and moments in my life. Now as far as it has to do with the characters I'm IN LOVE with Debra, I love the way she loves her family, the way she cares about everybody, the way she supports her family and the fact that she's able to give anything in order to make everyone happy. Then is Robert that is an adorable person that's desperate of some attention of his entire family but his is a very good and sensitive man. Then is Ray who I like pretty much but if I would be Debra I would kill him in almost every episode, the fact that acts like a stupid sleeping bear brings me to the edge. Then I love Frank the old bad-a*s fella that tries to be the tough guy of the family but deep down he's silently loving and caring about his family, to me he looks like a child during puberty. Then there's Amy who's kind of a silly girl that always tries to make everyone happier with her silliness which I find sweet. And last is Marie who's like everyones Nemesis, I hate that woman but I admit that she's always there for everyone and she cares and gives always the best of her, even to Debra! Like Dave Crowe said "There's a massive pile of s**t with a little bit of gold in the middle", to me Everybody Loves Raymond is that little bit of gold!!! Everyone made me happy and my dream is to meet the entire "family" in person, that would be the greatest gift of all times. I thank the entire team (I've studied filmmaking and I know that there would be no series without them) and the entire cast for this wonderful creation that gave the sweetest taste that I ever got from a family so they became my role model and I'll create my own family one day based to these principals. Everybody Loves Raymond is a MUST SEE for anyone who loves the warmth of a family (with amazing plot, a unique scenario, magnificent cast and brilliant direction). Thank you all for everything...you're the best!!
