KnotStronger This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
Terry "Alice, I Think" is a great show!!! Finally there's a show out there in the TV universe that is funny and that can be seen by people of all ages: it's not "too stupid" for adults to watch it and not "too dirty" for kids (ok, there's a few references to sex, but nothing that should keep a child away). In fact, different ages can have a laugh for different reasons: from the funny faces to the witty comments, to the not-at-all-witty ones. And with actors of all ages, there's something for everyone. And I love the fact that it's 100% Canadian... a good change from all the shows shot in Canada that change the names of cities so that it "seems" everything takes place in America... hey, Yankees aren't the only ones who can make good TV! I wish I could go to see the real Smithers, one day! I really REALLY hope it goes on for many years, and can't wait for the DVDs to come out.
benweinberger I've only been able to catch one episode so far - I don't know why it's not playing on a US cable network - it's pretty funny. This show should be picked-up by one of the networks on DirecTv here; I guess it's just a matter of time.I never read the books or anything, but the story line of the episode I saw was pretty funny - the kid who played Alice's boyfriend was an absolute freak.I like the kid (Connot something or other) who plays her brother, and the dad (Dan Payne). Dan's a bit of a freak - he should be doing Saturday Night Live or something - I think his inner funny is trying to get out - though he looks a bit more leading-man type.
r_warnock Great show, my three kids are in the same age bracket as the children on this show and they love it. Entertaining characters, have only seen two episodes but am looking forward to seeing further development of the characters and how they feed off each other. All four of the main "family" characters are very colorful, favorites are Alice and her Dad as they seem to be the most well developed humorous characters. Looking forward to tonight's episode where the handsome Dad does some goofy modeling. Dan Payne does a great job of playing a sensitive yet somewhat bumbling father in this show, his comedic presence definitely brings a very funny warmth to the show.
Ubertherapist My wife and I have seen the first 3 episodes and the characters are really starting to grow on us. Great casting for the characters. Should be a hit, can't wait to see the rest of the season. Alice, the dad John and the meat eating vegan with the hairy armpits are my favorite so far. The best part is it's an actual funny Canadian made series, haven't had one of those since kids in the hall. Hopefully we don't lose great comedian writers to all the late shows that are in the states so that we continue to have great Canadian programs like Alice, I Think.I'll be sure to tell others so that there is more than one season of this show, hate to lose it.
