Please don't spend money on this.

It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

This movie was kind of short with a disappointing ending that could have been dragged out longer, but otherwise I really liked it. It was really well done with the fear factor and really played with my emotions, especially seeing everybody go through pain and suffer. Combs was a very strong actor and really made the movie more interesting, and he did make it seem like at the beginning that the game wasn't going to be too bad, but wow is that wrong. I'd suggest watching if you are into more gore and violent movies

PROS: The thing that I liked most about this movie would have to be the acting. You had people who could show genuine terror as well as actors who showed true insanity. The movie offered you such a wide variety of characters which was nice because I was given my own would you rather. Would I rather this person dies, or this person. I also really liked how light hearted the movie felt. I understand how dark the movie is, so it was quite nice to have a release character to sort of break up the darkness. This sort of dark comedic vibe lasted through the entirety of the film, even the ending, which I liked, had a slight humor to it.CONS: This movie lagged. If there is anything at all that I hate the most in horror movies are movies that build slowly, or not at all, for no specific reason. This was one of those movies. I couldn't tell if the climax happened 25 minutes too soon, or they just didn't have one. Either way I felt bored. The final and most perilous thing would be the aggravation this movie caused me. I went in to the move expecting to see gore, because the movie is a torture film, but I barely saw any blood. They really missed the mark on this one.www.chorror.com

This movie has been on Netflix, where I have watched it at least five times because I really appreciate well-done shocker movies. The major factor setting this one apart from similar movies is the acting. In the genre it's really easy to lapse into over-the-top histrionics or fall into clichés of the genre, which are too numerous to mention and for readers of this review, you probably know what they are anyway. It's an ensemble cast of eight people who show up at a mysterious dinner given by an extremely wealthy man who offers promises of financial help if they are willing to take part in a "game." That premise alone would normally send up glaring red flags, but it's clear that all the dinner guests are taken in by the host's (skillfully portrayed by Jeffrey Combs) polite and convivial manner. While it is an ensemble cast, the script and cinematography benefit from being told through a desperate young woman's eyes (Iris, portrayed by Brittany Snow). Early in the movie we learn that she is desperately looking for a job to aid her in helping care for her critically ill brother. The other seven dinner guests are painted in broad strokes, but after all it is a 90 minute movie, and the bulldog-ish butler, Bevans, also comes to the fore in a big way as the action progresses. There are enough twists and turns to make the story even more compelling and when the "game" starts after a luscious dinner, the plot gets cranking. The movie's only shortcoming, at least to me, was the generic musical score. Maybe after getting decent actors and making sure the cinematography was good, they only had enough money to hire somebody with a Casio organ and told him or her, just make it sound spooky. Of course, this is very minor and "Would you Rather," which has been unfairly dismissed as a "Saw" ripoff or torture porn, is actually a must-see for any horror fan.

I just finished watching this movie, and oh my god...... i have just wasted 93 minutes of my life. In the first act of the movie, before the game, we are introduced to Iris. Our main character, she is having financial troubles, and has to take care of her brother, whom we find out later, is waiting for a bone marrow transplant. She is called to the clinic and is introduced to Shepard Lambert. He owns a foundation, and is willing to help her and her brother, given they participate in a game. Time passes, and we follow Iris to the Lambert House, where she is introduced to the other characters. They eat dinner, where Shepard, pays Iris, who is a vegetarian, $5,000 to eat the steak. Shepard pays another character, who's name escapes me, $50,000 to drink a bunch of alcohol, because he is a recovering alcoholic. Then the game begins. This presents my first major issue with this attempt at a film. THERE IS NO SUSPENSE At ALL IN THE ENTIRE FILM. Seeing that the film spends at least 20 minutes introducing Iris, and no one else, there is no doubt as to who will win the game, its like watching a gladiatorial fight between a roman legion, and a house cat.In the end, after Iris wins, surprise surprise, her brother is dead. because Iris did bad things, I guess? The fact that the brother dies is the shittiest thing in this movie. There is no good conclusion, no reason for Iris to do the awful thing(s) she did. If there was a more satisfying conclusion, i would probably give the movie a better score, but it didn't, so i didn't.P.S. Also, really, does every movie that has a creepy dude need a rape scene? For real?
