Reviews
Steinesongo Too many fans seem to be blown away
SunnyHello Nice effects though.
Ortiz Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
adonis98-743-186503 John looks to take down Luc Deveraux after a home invasion claims his wife and daughter. The fight pits John against Andrew Scott and an army of genetically enhanced warriors; meanwhile, he must contend with a UniSol in relentless pursuit. Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning the 4th installment in the Universal Soldier Saga is probably the most bizzare of them all and yet fun as it is plus adding Scott Adkins in the mix? was a great plan. Van Damme and Lundgren once again also shine in their parts and the action but also the sci-fi element felt a mix between A and B type of film. I think that this film will definitely entertain fans of both the old and new movies alike. (10/10)
Prismark10 Even the original Universal Soldier film was not that great but the series have managed to survive.Despite the presence of Van Damme and Lundgren who only make a cameo appearance, Scott Adkins is the star.Adkins is a family man called John who finds intruders in his house who kill his wife and daughter while he his left in a coma. When he awake with the recurring memories of his family being killed, with the help of a shadowy agency me who kill his wife and daughter. John goes after Luc Devreux (Van Damme) who killed them and left him injured. It is no surprise to find out that John is a cyborg. The story was in some ways inspired by elements of Terminator: Salvation, relating to false memories. The action only improves in the later stages of the film when Adkins gets to do his fight scenes. However this is just a low budget, low wattage action movie.
Emmanuel Isaiah Smith In terms of a pure action film, this is as good as it gets. Jean Claude Van-Damme gives a superb throw-back performance as Luc Devereaux, now a part man part machine cybernetic villain. Scott Adkins gives a memorable performance as a human experiment, and mind-control victim gone rogue. Dolph Lundgren, Andrei Arlovsky, and Roy Jones Jr add to the royal-rumble style atmosphere in this film as well. This film explores the concepts of human experimentation, cloning, artificial intelligence, and revenge all with exceptional cinematography, and thrilling action sequences.
SnoopyStyle John (Scott Adkins) awakens from a nine month coma with memories of a home invasion and Luc Deveraux (Jean-Claude Van Damme) executing his wife and daughter. He is haunted by the memories and investigates their murders. Andrew Scott (Dolph Lundgren) and Luc have gathered a following of Unisols and are preparing for a battle with the government agency. John tracks down a murder scene and then stripper Sarah (Mariah Bonner) but he can't quite remember why. He is attacked by Andrew's follower Unisol Magnus. The fights are great. The car chase is good. It's always great to see workmanship in real stunts. I'm even going to forgive some of the stiff acting coming from the stuntmen-turned-actors. The lead Adkins is a functional actor. Generally, the acting is inferior. JCVD looks creepy good. The plot is functional but the writing is poor. They need somebody to do some proper rewrites. The connective tissue between the action just doesn't cut it.
