Tedfoldol everything you have heard about this movie is true.
Limerculer A waste of 90 minutes of my life
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
sol- Planning to spend spring break at an isolated cabin in the woods, a group of teenagers suffer grim fates here when they fail to heed the advice of their movie buff friend who recognises the "warning signs" from the countless horror films he has seen. Although nowhere near as well-known, 'There's Nothing Out There' is a curious precursor to the 'Scream' franchise and 'The Cabin in the Woods' with its self-aware approach - and there many amusing moments as the horror buff exclaims "those kids were born to be murder victims" and as he makes side comments like "here's mistake number one". The single best line though has him pausing to think before stating "it's a distinct possibility" when asked if he believes that he is in a horror movie. The fun is not just limited to the dialogue though; there is a zany bit in which a teenager uses a visible boom mike (!) to jump across a room, plus the monster point-of-view shots are highly effective. Unlike 'Scream' though, 'There's Nothing Out There' is never particularly unsettling or scary. The monster always looks fake and hardly menacing and should have remained unseen on camera more often. The elaborate scheme concocted to defeat it is a tad silly too. The film concludes though with a hilarious final line and for a movie made on such a noticeably low budget, it is a notable effort.
EyeAskance A group of horny youths decide to enjoy their Spring Break at a secluded backwoods house, unaware that there is a mind-controlling carnivorous monster on the prowl. Only the horror movie fanatic geek of the bunch can save the day...if he can get anybody to listen to him.THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE is a commendable low-budget parody, and a solid B monster flick at the same time. I usually don't care for crossing the horror and comedy genres, but I was surprised to find this one entirely enjoyable. A nice looking cast, a laughable slimy monster(imagine a giant land-dwelling tadpole with a huge, toothy rictus and tentacles bearing industrial strength suction cups), and a couple of good gross-out gore sequences make TNOT a worthy watch and the perfect party flick.6/10
JimSthers This is a great low budget flick, has an atractive cast, lots of male and female nudity, decent special effects, funny one-liners, stereotypical characters that are fun to watch: the tough guy, the dumb blond, the foreign chick, the guy who's seen every horror movie out there, the nerd, the guy that worries too much and the not-so bright heroine. This flick is about 7 college students who go to a house in the middle of the woods where they are attacked by a funny looking creature.
flinnie I saw this movie one late night on cinemax, and had to own it. It took me over a year to find it for sale. That's how much I love it. The acting isn't that good, except for PECK, but don't let that stop you. Peck's character tells you the signs and rules of horror movies, way before SCREAM. Couple of classic scenes i.e. cat falling from ceiling, actor swinging on a boom mike, and the classic line "The only thing we know about it is it, like everyone else hates a mouth full of shaving cream!" As horror movie I give it -2 stars, as horror spoof +10.
