The Wednesday Child Trailers

History sometimes repeats itself. As a nine-year-old, Maja was abandoned by her mother and placed in an orphanage. Now it’s ten years later and she keeps returning to the institution – to visit her own four-year-old son. Will she be able to take control of her life despite the unfavorable circumstances and her own self-destructive tendencies?

Teddie Blake The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Keeley Coleman The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
rogeromaro A courageous but susceptible young woman is anxious to get her slow-witted son out of an orphanage, but realizes that she will get no help from her common-law husband, who is a low-level criminal and only is nice to her when he needs something. He also has no interest in the son. So she tries to embark on a career as a laundress and is befriended by the coordinator of the collective sponsoring her. It isn't easy. She's embittered about her own childhood, she loves a selfish jerk and her friends aren't so great either. She makes all sorts of mistakes, but survives because her love for her son is authentic and drives her. There is a compelling simplicity about the story-telling and the acting. No special effects or obtrusive directing, with a lovely lyric soundtrack. An anti-blockbuster sort of film; wonderfully moving and refreshing. Should appeal to anyone who roots for the underdog.
