The Rookie Trailers

Veteran cop Nick Pulovski is used to playing musical partners; many of the partners he's had in the past have died on the job, and often as a result of Nick's risky tactics. But the rookie who's been assigned to help Nick bust a carjacking ring is almost as hotheaded as he is … and when Nick gets kidnapped, his newbie partner is his only hope.

Reviews
Lucybespro It is a performances centric movie
Huievest Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
Aneesa Wardle The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Zandra The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
jonathanmark-77048 Plot: Clint Eastwood plays a veteran detective who gets stuck with a rookie cop (Charlie Sheen) to chase down a German crook (Raul Julia.) This will probably go down as one of my favorite Clint Eastwood films considering I'm one of those people that likes Eastwood but don't love him as much as some people. The story is very simple and straight to the point which I like. Both Eastwood and Sheen have really good chemistry with each other which is what a buddy film needs to make it work along with an engaging story. The rest of the supporting cast also does a good job especially Raul Julia(may he rest in peace) and Sonia Braga who brought enough menace to their roles that made them convincing villains. The action is very well done when it comes with some exciting stunt sequences that rival some movies today. The only 2 problems that I have are the pacing being a little slow and of course the famous rape scene where Sonia Braga take advantage of Clint Eastwood although they don't linger on it too much unlike other films which helped. The Rookie is a fun buddy cop film with 2 really good performances by the leads, good villains, fun action, and a good story. If you get a chance to see it, watch it you won't regret it.
edwagreen All the new police look to get into investigating homicide, but not Charlie Sheen. With nightmares of his brother's plunge from a building, Sheen decides to chase car thieves. This is just in time for veteran Clint Eastwood to lose his partner to one of the latter, played well by Raul Julia and female Rambo partner Sonja Braga.Sheen is mild-mannered, well dressed and from an affluent family. This all changes when his mistake leads to Eastwood being captured and held hostage by the Julia-Braga team.Sheen becomes a one-man show by himself in this action packed film. We have the usual bridge chases, and Sheen burning down a bar is memorable. The film culminates in a wild chase airport scene and everyone there runs for cover.By film's end, Sheen is another Eastwood with the story about to repeat itself by Sheen having another partner while Eastwood moves upstairs.Fast-paced action thriller well worth viewing.
jfarms1956 I believe that The Rookie would be most enjoyed by those who are 13 and up. I can't really evaluate Clint Eastwood's acting because I always love seeing him in any film he does. I can't really evaluate Charlie Sheen's performance because I don't care much about him and his acting. I did find that the Rookie moved along at a decent pace and kept me interested in the film throughout. I like cop films. I think it is always good to see cops as humans and not just uniformed officers of the law. Overall, I found the movie quite enjoyable. The Rookie will not be a "cop classic" like Dirty Harry, but so what. It provides an evening of entertainment. Better have the popcorn already made and sit back and enjoy. I give it four thumbs up.
dworldeater The Rookie is better than some of the reviews on here suggest . While not the best Eastwood cop / action movie, or the best buddy cop action/ comedy . The Rookie is still enjoyable , well performed and well cast. Eastwood and Sheen had good chemistry and Raul Julia did a nice job as the villain . The action and stunts are in abundance here. A little overdone for an Eastwood film . However, this is very comparable to the other action films of this period. The Rookie is fast, furious and funny . It is not the best movie of its type , but I enjoyed it much more than The Dead Pool (my least favorite Eastwood film ). The Rookie has more in common with Lethal Weapon and other 80's action movies than Dirty Harry. Good for the genre and worth watching.
