Harockerce What a beautiful movie!
Stellead Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful
DipitySkillful an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.
Ariella Broughton It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
ma-cortes A bankrupted aristocrat called Leonor Marchioness of Montenegro (Maria Martin) helps Rafael finds a new job in Madrid as the gardener in the mansion of Antonio Fernández Herrador (Simon Andreu) , Minister of Economy who is really immersed in his political career, and his wife Teresa (Amparo Muñoz) . Teresa, sexually frustrated with her careless husband, begins to pay attention to the charming young gardener. As her marriage is going through a rough patch , that's why her negligent hubby is extremely dedicated to his job . The situation become murkier when a leftist terrorist group (led by Enrique San Francisco) contact Rafael and then things go wrong . This is a provoking story in which politics collide with corruption , forbidden loves , blackmail , treason , violence , military conspiracy , communist infiltrators ,group of extreme leftist and right-wing , and terrorism . Shot when the political events were developed and including apparition of prestigious politicians as Adolfo Suárez's doppelganger ,from the troublesome period when the known ¨Spanish Transition¨ took place . The picture deals with loving triangles , including lesbianism , homosexuality , adultery and when the treasoned husband to be aware , he confronts with his wife and threats of divorce, as the minister reluctantly accepts the situation since otherwise a scandal would ruin his political ambitions . These ingredients are added to an intrigue with terrorist groups , both , right wing and leftist one , as they need his help in order to know the whereabouts of the Minister since they are planning his kidnapping . Simon Andreu gives a fine acting as the minister who neglects his beautiful young wife , while Amparo Muñoz becomes pregnant by her lover , to have an abortion, but she is determined to have the baby. Amparo delivers an average acting , as usual , she starred commercial films as well as serious cinema , such as : Clara es el precio , Dedicatoria and Mamá cumple 100 años . The film was shot between a similar film ¨The deputy¨and his Quinqui movies as ¨El pico¨I , II , Navajeros¨ , in fact , as support cast appears ¨Pirri¨ , an ordinary actor of this kind of cinema .It bears a certain resemblence to ¨Confessions of a Congressman" or "The Deputy" also concerning about sex and politics . Secondary actors are pretty good such as Pedro Armendariz , Pastor Serrador , Julieta Serrano , Antonio Gamero , and Eloy De La Iglesia's ordinary as Enrique San Francisco and ,José Manuel Cervino . Atmospheric musical score by Alfonso Santiesteban and adding songs by Manzanita . Mujer de Ministro was regularly directed by Eloy De La Iglesia , being written by his habitual writer Gonzalo Goicoechea ,who scripted him 10 films , and it failed at boxoffice , beinggrated ¨S¨. Most his films dealt with sex including shots of nude males , homosexuality , politics , gay underworld and forbidden lovers . De La Iglesia was a notorious communist militant , drug addict and homosexual , these personal characteristics were widely shown in his films . Eloy was a talented Spanish movies director , he began working in cinema in 1966 , at his 22 years old , he debuted in a kiddies production , ¨Fantasy 3¨(66) . Following a sordid melodrama ¨Algo Amargo En La Boca¨ (67) and a boxing story , ¨Cuadrilatero¨(69) . De La Iglesia realizes a lot of thrilling pictures with erotic background as ¨Techo Cristal¨(70) , ¨Nadie Oyó Gritar¨ (72) , ¨Gota Sangre Para Seguir Amando¨ (73) , and scabrous tales as ¨Juegos Amor Prohibido¨(75) , ¨Otra Alcoba¨ (76) . And concerning youthful gay : ¨Placeres Ocultos¨(76) , ¨El Sacerdote¨(78) and politicians : ¨The Deputy ¨, ¨Mujer Del Ministro¨ . Although he became notorious in the years of the Spanish transition to democracy with shocking and polemic films as ¨El Pico 1¨ and 2¨ , ¨Cólegas¨ , ¨Navajeros¨, ¨La Estanquera De Vallecas¨ (87) . All of them dealt with druggies , dope sellers , delinquency , terrorism , underworld suburban and generational problems are the habitual subjects in his films , and specially dedicated to the underworld of heroin ; as well as the gay world . Passing of time hasn't had mercy with most of those movies , but they represented a time and a way of life in the history of Spain ; and now they may seem a little bit naive . His last films were an academic rendition based on Henry James' novel : ¨The turn of the screw¨ and ¨Los Novios Búlgaros¨.
