Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Kayden This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama
Cheryl A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
Myra Nagy (chacalit) This movie is full of adventure, real life situations, and lots of fiction. The main characters are not what you expect. This is also a family movie, good for all ages. I love that there is science fiction because I am a sci-fi buff. The location of the main scene is a perfect location to feel secluded. There are quite a few good actors in here too. If you like sci-fi and family movies with a little action you are going to love this movie.
marian-906-787186 I watched this film with my son. It is rare to find a "kids" film that is captivating for an adult without the all too relied upon adult themes especially violence. This film has heart, adventure and spiritual possibility through the beauty and purity of children. The adults who trust the children are richly rewarded and those in fear learn to trust and love - a gorgeous message. The Sci Fi/ Spiritual theme is refreshing and empowering to watch. With the planet in high fear momentum it is interesting to watch how the adults in the film react to the unknown and the children open and of course save humanity. Well cast with the right roles of the children and teacher shining. Not giving anything away it is a special film I will enjoy owning and watching again with the family.
johno-21 I recently saw this on TV for the first time and found it charming. Based very loosely on a Sci-Fi story from 1943 by Henry Kuttner and his wife C.L Moore this story was adapted for the screen by a team led by noted screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin and directed by Bob Shaye. Shaye is a longtime producer of films best known for the Nightmare on Elm Street series and the Lord of the Rings and although his film career spans 45 years this is only the second feature film that he has directed. The film is relatively small and comes across as low budget and the story as written for the screen is weak and full of holes but oddly enough it comes across as a good movie. It's central characters are little kids in Rhiannon Leigh Wryn as Emma and Chris O'Neil as her brother Noah. they discover a strange box on the sand at their parents summer beach house and it contains strange objects and a stuffed bunny rabbit that Emma calls Mimzy. Mimzy is an artificial life object built from nanotechnology in the Earths future. The future has been corrupted y an ecological disaster that threatens human life by the pollution of DNA. Mimzys have been created to be sent to the Earth's past to retrieve pure uncontaminated DNA because time travel for humans themselves is fatal to the human body. None have Mimzys have ever come back and this is mankind's last chance. The children develop supernatural skills and knowledge for the strange objects found in the box but a massive power outage they inadvertently cause alerts them to the FBI and in turn scientists. The film revolves around Emma and director Shaye gets the most out of the young actress Wryn as she and her bunny are just delightful. Joely Richardson and Timothy Hutton co-star as the Noah and Emma's parents Jo and David. Rainn Wilson is Noah's science teacher Larry white, Kathryn Hahn is Larry's girlfriend Naomi Schwartz and Michael Clarke Duncan is the menacing but kindly FBI agent Nathanial Broadman. Yes, this could have been better and more believable and had better effects and more of the future but so what. It's a nice little family film and I will give it an 8.0 out of 10 and recommend it to anyone unless you are a sci-fi geek that only going to tear it apart or a film snob looking for an art film.
Elswet To me, this plays like the children's' version of What the Bleep Do We Know? Down the Rabbit Hole. This IS Down the Rabbit Hole in one aspect, and appears to bear ties to Through the Looking Glass, as well, but that is a large part of its charm. This is not so much Alice in Wonderland, but is more what would have happened had Wonderland come to Alice...had Alice been smart enough to have figured it out. I enjoyed this far more than expected, as there have been SO many kid's movies out lately with quantum themes, but this one had something lacking from most...and rather large amount of heart.I found this to be intelligent, touching, and inspirational. Regardless of age, this is an enjoyable film, with a great story at the center, some stunning (and realistic) effects, and a fantastic execution. This is wholly enjoyable and I love it.It rates an 8.9/10 from...the Fiend :.
