Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Brendon Jones It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
fedor8 A slight improvement over the boring first part, that is to say this is slightly less boring. Starts off with several characters who already know about the supernatural, which gives the movie a chance to be slightly less unoriginal than the standard ghost flick. Unfortunately, that slight potential is underused, and we end up instead with a repetitive abduction flick.Girl is safe. Girl gets abducted. Girl is found. Repeat. The story makes no sense. So the guy who is considered a friend/saviour of slave runaways turns out to be both a good guy and a bad guy? That is one of the most schizophrenic plot-twists ever: apparently he helped slaves escape AND he killed a few by adding them to his taxidermist collection! Stupid beyond belief. A sadistic sociopath and a friend-in-need at the same time? "Look, I save so many slaves, surely I have the moral right to kill a few for my twisted little hobby, right?" Who the hell comes up with nonsense like that? There's no explanation why the taxidermist is a physically active ghost who can hurt the living, while his fellow ghost victims cannot interact: their only ability is to look glum and point their hands to one direction or another like wooden zombies. In that sense they're no smarter or more useful than a badly-trained hamster. Is there no equality among ghosts? Ironic, due to the slavery sub-plot.Dumber still, the wife sees ghosts yet doesn't believe her daughter's visions. Very silly indeed. How do you turn a character like HER into a rabid skeptic? Well, you CAN, as long as your aim is to write bad scripts. The less said about the moronic title, the better: more evidence of schizophrenia. Connecticut or Georgia? Just imagine the title: "Escape From New York 3: The Prisoners of Teheran".Oh well, at least the movie has nicely filmed forest scenes.
georgewilliamnoble While the film plays it scenes against the background of familiar horror themes, the lonely sinister house and gardens, and the haunted characters with visions aplenty. Then there is the must have of all or at least most modern horror the child in peril and distress my demonic forces. This all sounds very average and routine, but the genesis for this story it seems is based on real experiences which is interesting at the very least, in the end this is a surprisingly sentimental movie that tells it's story very well and i enjoyed the ghostly ride from beginning to the end. job done!
Raven Fanuk wow this film was just so boring and slow moving! its not even good for people who don't watch horror, there was no suspense what so ever not even a plot so to speak just a family who see dead things roaming about the woods i got to just over an hour of watching before i gave up i would get more enjoyment from the new nightmare on elm st film and that was bad enough! in short just don't bother watching unless u are having trouble sleeping then go right ahead but if u want to be scared then just watch doctor who instead because your get more entertainment then this so called horror! as you can guess from this review i am not a fan of the film i like to be scared or at least griped by the story but this film failed to deliver on both those points instead i wasted my time on something that should not of been commissioned to be made
sasha-m-robinson The Haunting in Conneticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia (2012) It wasn't until about halfway through the film that I realized this sequel, in a bold/confusing/weird move, has absolutely nothing to do with the original, aside from the very tenuous plot connection of a family moving into a house where they experience the paranormal consequences of the actions of the previous tenants. On the one hand, not much more could likely have been milked out of the first family's story- on the other hand, we've seen sequels try to continue and up the ante on the paranormal activities of the same ghosts on different people. This was definitely a different choice- and apparently one that will be continued in the 3rd installment in the series, apparently set in New York.In this sequel, ('inspired', 'based on', whatever, a true story) a family with a history of paranormal sensitivity moves to Georgia, followed shortly by the mother's sister, who is also prone to seeing spirits. When the two women were girls, they were often terrified by a "dark figure" only they could see and could sense was evil. Shortly after, the family's young daughter starts to have conversations with an invisible man and her mother begins to worry that her own neuroses are being visited upon her daughter. After consulting with several different types of experts, the family begins to learn the history behind their property and why their daughter might be experiencing these visitations. Partly through research and partly by accident they learn some uncomfortable truths about the violent past of the area and its inhabitants. Things I liked: -The setting. The deep, woodsy south is always a great setting for scares! -The little girl. Her performance was the only one not utterly forgettable- not overdone, engaging, etc. -The ultimate resolution: good setup for a haunting- not incredibly original but not overly hackneyed.Meh: -The adults. Sorry Chad. Not likable or interesting enough to root for. -Basically the whole middle. I don't even remember half of the experts or why we're supposed to care that the Mom had similar experiences as a little girl- and I'm totally confused as to how they're supposed to be related when it was a different house??Overall, I THINK I liked it as well as or better than the original, which counts as success for a sequel, right? Or also shows that the original wasn't terrible but wasn't all that great either. I think I pretty much liked and disliked all the same components.Like this review?
