NekoHomey Purely Joyful Movie!
Stephan Hammond It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Majikat The simplistic tale of a friendship between two boys in a grown up world of hate, separation and control. Where war and dictation chooses your friends and foes, but untainted views, show a briefness of peace.Emotional and beautiful in equal measure. Just wow!
zeyan-30988 Today is the second time I watched this movie. I still remember that since the last time I watch this movie is about 5 years old, I was 12, I could understand this movie at all, all I have learnt about is "WWII is bad" or "Jewish suppose to be good" and "Hitler is a devil". Today after this movie I felt like something stuck in my throat and my heart was ripped apart, I want to cry out but I can't.
Alex_Kladis First of all I would like to mention the best about this movie. It is indeed a very good looking film. The cinematography and the costumes are absolutely amazing and very close to the atmosphere of the decade that the movie takes place. Also Vera Farmiga gives and amazing performance. She is by far the best this movie has to offer. Also good (of course) was David Thewlis but here is the first big BUT about "The boy in the striped Pyjamas"...The British accent of Thewlis and not only ruined a very big amount of the film cause felt so out of place! I understand that this was a BBC production, but again! Thewlis playing a Nazi was way Britisher than it was acceptable! My last BIG bad point about the movie is the music! The score is absolutely out of the spirit! In the first scene with the same happy tune that it presented the German Kids go over to the poor Jewis... and in the closing scene, Jesus! Nothing emotional in a very good scene!that's all for me!!
Feralclaw I don't scare easily, yet this film is more horrific and terrifying than any horror film ever made. Rupert Friend in this film plays a Nazi Official, Kurt Kotler, and he is wonderful in the role, but scary at the same time, it is, in many places, difficult to watch, from the brutal (off screen) beating of a Jewish man, and the horrific ending. I know I'm using the same words over and over again, but honestly, I can't be bothered to check Thesarus.com. It's a definite recommendation.
